A welcome wake-up to the consequences of exponentially rerouting traffic to main roads, til pinch-points seize up entirely & become angry & hellish👹. #LTN enclaves create dump zones, by design. Glad they finally care, about densely populated busy artery roads, biz & deprivation.
Are they planning some controls on councils imposing wildly misguided LTNs, onto already busy & artery roads? 🚩Lambeth Council blaming "roadworks" for the 5mths of hell they caused #Streatham a *pitiful* refusal to take responsibility. 🚩Lights were green, no one moved🚑🚒🚔😷
It's a frenzy of 🚲funding, the fit & free-time 4%ers really lobby hard. Walking & buses, not cool enough.
A council question about walking reveals what a low priority walking is for @LewishamCouncil - no spend attached (unlike cycling where they spend loads). Yesterday’s walk showed how deprioritized walking is. Impossible to navigate the pavement without stepping into the bike lane
If you think this should all stop and everyone should be able to access their bus directly to and from the kerb then write to your MP.
"Your voices matter" from the cllr who declares her methods "agile" since she prefers not to get "bogged down" with consultation. The missionary cllr who illegally forced the W Dulwich LTN, & others, against the wishes (& legitimate concerns) of residents. medium.com/@mikehakata/re…
London has a Commissioner for Walking & Cycling, but NO dedicated champion for disability equality. 1.2 million disabled Londoners deserve better from City Hall. Time for @MayorOfLondon to act! Sign & share the petition here: bit.ly/41iaC1Z

Bravo @GrahamNeale A salute from the trenches of Lambeth Borough, we've been trying to do the same - remind the Council & officers, that *they work for us*. That communities, AQ & road safety is too important to be treated like a careless let's-see-if-they-cope live experiment😖
Local councillor @GrahamNeale demanding that Southwark Council's leader join us and push Lambeth to consult with local businesses, churches, and community groups over their plans for a Low Traffic Neighbourhood.
It's brewing a perfect storm. youtu.be/OunBRdTIe3w?fe… The irony of the Dept of Transport behaving as if it's the NHS, increasingly presuming to force Active Travel on an (already active!) populace - but has no interest in our health when considering design v ebikes v accidents.
dailysceptic.org/2025/03/24/the… Great news. So awful that Councils blithely dump rerouted traffic onto "main" COMMUNITY rds, as though they don't matter. Densely residential, the impact is ruinous - on AQ, amenity, noise, flow, safety. @AdamDKHarrison @CamdenCouncil

"Boarders" (step from bus directly into a cycle lane😖), are now paused. But it seems, "bypass" stops still full steam ahead in @tfl plans. Nb: #Streatham Hill A23 also has bi-directional 🚲lanes. Active Travel / "micro mobility" rules. The PUBLIC in Public Transport come 2nd😭
‘TfL is not now rolling out shared use bus boarders at this point in time’ stated by Lead Sponsor of TfL Investment Planning Directorate who oversees delivery of cycling investment. This pause however should include all floating bus stops. 4th July outside Colliers Wood Station.
Lambeth Council debt rising, & rising. Basic Services on its knees, while Lambeth remain fanatically committed to big spending big on bizarre "award winning kerbside strategy"😬 lambeth.gov.uk/streets-roads-… Priorities long lost, zero consequences for spending run amok. @AngelaRayner
Can't believe auditors were (are!) so toothless & mild. Accepting "qualified" responses, again. Blamed on "historic" info, (that has no business being still unknown) & the need to "unwind" the data. What utter horseshit. £1.1billion!😱 Another planet. moderngov.lambeth.gov.uk/ieListDocument…
Let's see what the council makes of this (remove woodland/ build huge car park) proposal. The site looks to me like a, what's the word? Oh yes - rain garden.
So, there’s another bid by Bishop Thomas Grant School to redevelop woodland on their site to build an all-weather sports pitch. This is still a terrible plan. 1/8 #Streatham #Lambeth @MalcolmClark77 @MariannaMasters @lambeth_council @StreathamSoc @vanessabastian @RJDoyleSW2
Carte blanche closures along A23 #Streatham. @tfl "in consultation with @lambeth_council" but not, with actual residents, businesses or users. The disregard for local input, the disempowerment🤐 - is quite shocking. Very reminiscent of Lambeth's high-handed forced #LTN approach.

The state of Lambeth finances is mind boggling.
#Lambeth have issued their draft accounts. A thread on the state they are in and why. The council overspent by £60.5M in last financial year. Only in February the council was forecasting the overspend as being £41.6M. How on earth did the lose nearly £20M in the space of a month?
Pedestrians & bus users (mainly low income people, women, children, elderly & disabled people) are now placed behind cyclists (mainly affluent, non-disabled, 25-55yo men), in London's transport hierarchy. Fast/heavy e-bikes where people walk & get on/off a bus is menacing/unjust.
