This is "Portmeirion" by Lilian Hawthorn (nee Leahy) from her post-war work, most likely the 1960s or possibly the early 1970s. Lilian only contributed 9 paintings to the 8 ELG exhibitions in the 1930s but she continued to paint in later life. She married Elwin Hawthorne in 1937.

Good morning, John @PaintingsLondon & thank you: all help very gratefully received! George Board lived in the Guinness Trust Buildings on Columbia Road, so that's a possibility & the art classes were held in Wolverley Street so that might suit. Maps, courtesy of @natlibscotmaps
Can any art detectives help? Where in Bethnal Green is this likely to have been?
This is "NE Bethnal Green" by George Board from 1928. This is the only known surviving example of George's work in oils despite the fact that he was a regular contributor to shows. I'd love to know where this scene might have been in Bethnal Green but, to date, it has eluded me.

This is "From an East End Window" by Henry Silk from 1931. Henry rented a room from his sister, Ellen Hawthorn (Elwin's mother) at her home at 11, Rounton Road in Bow & this was the view from his window. #HenrySilk #EastLondonGroup

Good morning, John @JohnTizard & thank you, as always. Yes, Cecil Osborne's painting is superb. He was living at 221, Farringdon Road Buildings when he painted his view. This one of "Farringdon Road" by him was painted from the same vantage point but looking roughly South in 1929
Good morning, Alan. Thank you for posting Cecil Osborne’s “Sunday Morning, Farringdon Road” this Sunday morning and every Sunday morning. Every week your post with this delightful painting brings joy. It is a painting that offers the viewer something new every time it is viewed.
Good morning, Steve @StephenDownes & thank you for your interest in our sale of greeting cards & giclee prints. You can find the greeting cards here:- eastlondongroup.co.uk/greetingcards & the Giclee prints here:- eastlondongroup.co.uk/gicleeprints
But where do I find the items for sale?
As an alternative to Cecil Osborne's iconic view of "Sunday Morning, Farringdon Road" here's another one from the first Group show at Alex. Reid & Lefevre in 1929. This is "The Fight, 1929" by John Cooper not unsurprisingly from 1929! #SundayMorning #JohnCooper #EastLondonGroup

It is #SundayMorning once again so, in the time-honoured manner, here's "Sunday Morning, Farringdon Road" by Cecil Osborne from the first Group show at Alex. Reid & Lefevre galleries at 1a, King Street in Mayfair in 1929. It is in the collection @BrightonMuseums. #EastLondonGroup

Good morning, John @JohnTizard & thank you, as always. As you say, we all need the rain: sadly, we've only had a light shower so far. There seems to be rain in these clouds in "West Mersea" by Walter Steggles! It is from his post-war work, most likely the early 1970s.
Good morning, Alan. As heavy rain falls your post with Brynhild Parker’s “Interior” is a welcome Saturday morning treat. And given the recent dry conditions so is the rain as long as it does not lead to flooding.
Good morning, Jim @lilolme_jm & thank you rather belatedly on my part, I'm afraid. Thanks for your kind comments & support. Here's another view of the front of 223, Bow Road (obliquely) in "Nearing Bow Church" by Henry Silk from 1931. #HenrySilk #SaturdayMorning #EastLondonGroup
The building may not have changed much but Bow Road most certainly has! I'll leave this link to a little history of the building. lookup.london/223-bow-road-h… It's lovely to see you active here again, sir. You were greatly missed in your absence.
Good morning, Fiona @notware & thank you, somewhat belatedly on my part, I'm afraid. 2 hours for lunch on Fridays sounds rather wonderful! Not too far from Canonbury Grove, here's a view of "Canonbury" by Elwin Hawthorne from Canonbury Place towards Canonbury Square from 1934.
Happy memories from when I worked on Essex road for a couple of months in the early 70s. 2 hour lunch on Friday.
As an alternative to Brynhild Parker's painting of "Interior" here's one that I haven't shown for a while. This is "Knaresborough" by John Cooper from 1932. #JohnCooper #Knaresborough #Yorkshire #SaturdayMorning #EastLondonGroup

The week-end has arrived more quickly than I'd expected, having had a "busy" week, so I was taken a bit unawares to discover that it is #SaturdayMorning once again! Here's our "usual" start to the day & week-end: "Interior" by Brynhild Parker from 1930. #BrynhildParker

Yesterday, John @PaintingsLondon very kindly recommended our feed to all his followers so may I welcome all of our nearly 100 new followers: I hope you'll all enjoy seeing the Group's work & learning about them along the way . This is "Canal at Bow" by Walter Steggles from 1931

This is "Grove Hall Park, Bow" by Harold Steggles from 1933. It is available as a greeting card or Giclee print &, along with all our ranges of both products, they are currently on promotion with a 40% discount on all orders here:-eastlondongroup.co.uk #HaroldSteggles #sale

Good morning, John @PaintingsLondon & thank you: that is most kind. Here's a great favourite of mine: "Canonbury Grove" by Elwin Hawthorne from 1932. The view that Elwin had of the Marquess Tavern "back in the day" is now obscured by the growth of trees to the left.
One of my favourite art accounts. Please do give @EastLndonGroup a follow for loads of info on and paintings by the East London Group of painters.
Today would have been Grace Oscroft's birthday as she was born on 17th July 1903. Here's her painting of "Old Houses, Bow" from 1934. The building with the bay windows is at 223, Bow Road & it is still there to this day: built c.1750! Sadly, this is the only known photo of Grace

Good morning @joeyredeye & thank you, somewhat belatedly on my part. Walter Sickert tutored the Group & exhibited with them on three occasions so he would have had an influence on their work, I expect plus, Bryn trained at the Slade which would also have been a factor.
Very Walter Sickert. Lovely
Good morning, Kathryn @KathrynRimming1 & thank you. Yes, the image of the policeman with his helmet on indoors does seem very incongruous but Brynhild Parker has "form" in that regard, as you'll see in her painting of "Saloon Bar" from 1931. #BrynhildParker #EastLondonGroup
The idea of sitting indoors with one`s police helmet on is amusing.
