Happy to share our new #review on cdGMP #signaling: doi.org/10.1093/femsml… We highlight how #bacteria manage to control several signaling pathways in parallel (despite relying on the same diffusible #molecule!) & take a glimpse at what's next in #secondmessenger signaling.

Light-sheet imaging of biofilms at the air-liquid interface. Check out the distinct cell layers and bacteria zipping around like comets in the liquid 💫. Honored to be part of this amazing study by Raju Tomer’s lab and collaborators. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
The full-size file for "Bacteriophage T4 Infection" is freely available @buildmodels at: pdb101.rcsb.org/sci-art/goodse…. I drew it at a scale of 1 pixel/nm, so the file is huge and hopefully good for poster-size prints. Here's a detail of the bursting cell.
Finished "Bacteriophage T4 Infection" this morning. The thin white line at left, which folds up and down 10 times, depicts the length of the T4 genome. After I add a few finishing touches and make sure I haven't forgotten anything, I'll put the full-size file @buildmodels.
A new layer of regulation of cell growth and LPS synthesis in E. coli involves (p)ppGpp and a moonlighting activity of RNase H 🤯 Shown in this paper by Brückner & al from the @FranzNarberhaus lab 👇 academic.oup.com/microlife/arti…

Diving into biofilms 🤿 reveals beautiful cellular organization that affects substrate distribution and antibiotic tolerance. Exciting work by @HannahDayton , our collaborators @TheMinLab @ajlabny @jasnir_ Raju Tomer & their labs! #microanatomy biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Do you wonder what nucleotide-based second messengers do in archaea? We do! Read about what is known here: doi.org/10.1093/femsml… @SPP1879 @BUnifr

Ok, so Germany is likely to miss its climate targets for 2030 and currently doesn't have a plan of how to speed up climate action. The response of the German government? Criminalizing peaceful activists. It's a global trend, and it should worry all of us. edition.cnn.com/2023/05/24/eur…
1/ @RhysADunstan87 @CentreImpactAMR works on the recognition of bacterial surface molecules, an essential step for #bacteriophage infection. Without a functional capsule, caused by TraDIS inactivation, #phage are unable to kill Klebsiella (doi.org/10.1016/j.celr…)...
