"He's ultimately still controlling everything. It doesn't matter what I do. I can never, ever get away from it" - Anna*, victim-survivor of economic abuse. Thanks to @BBCLondonNews for sharing Anna's story & helping to raise awareness of economic abuse. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/β¦
π¨ Enough is enough. π¨ Family courts are failing survivors and their children, and the Government is doing far too little to change that. The presumption of parental involvement must be repealed urgently, as recommended by the Harm Panel Report back in 2020.
The Labour Government must stop sitting on its hands and deliver urgent family court reform. Despite promising radical action on violence against women and girls, Labour has spent its first year in office simply maintaining the status quo.
He Said, She Said. Who Do They Believe? This is the brutal reality of the family court system. It's often reduced to a βhe said, she saidβ scenarioβand more often than not, the court believes him. In Kate Knivetonβs case, the truth was on her side. But that didnβt mean theβ¦
An FY2 doctor facing unemployment from August is 10% worse off compared to their counterpart in 2010, and thatβs using CPI, not RPI, with 2010 as the baseline rather than 2008

You and your colleaguesβ failure to strike and challenge the government is the reason why Resident doctors now face dire working conditions. They do not have the luxury of free tuition instead they leave medical school with Β£100,000+ in student debt and a lifelong graduate tax.β¦
Doctor strikes going ahead. A poor decision. I have never striked for a single minute in my fifty plus year career in medicine, and I never will.
Complete disdain for patients, right @wesstreeting Does the government not care because itβs not a strike day

Is this your best effort to keep patients safe @wesstreeting ? Itβs your governments decisions and directives thatβve told trusts not to escalate rates. Any harm will be on your hands

At today's RDC meeting, weβve voted to go ahead with strike action. Last week when we met @wesstreeting we were open to finding solutions to restore pay and improve working conditions. Today, we still do not have a credible offer on the table @Melissa_S_Ryan @RossNieuwoudt
Former MP Kate Kniveton was raped, abused, and silenced. When she went to the family court to protect her child, the abuse didnβt stopβit moved into the courtroom. She spent five years fighting to be heard. Five years defending herself from counter-allegations. Five years tryingβ¦
We agree with Minister, @jessphillips: no abusive parent should have automatic access to their child. So why hasnβt the government changed the law? Why is the pro-contact culture still putting children at risk? @MoJGovUK
The presumption of contact for abusive parents should not be law in this country, but many violent perpetrators and sexual abusers continue to access their children due to rulings in the Family Courts. The Govt must act now to protect our children, what are they waiting for?
Last nightβs documentary on Kate Knivetonβs case powerfully exposed what survivors, advocates, and children have been saying for years: the family court system is brokenβand dangerous. It showed, in real time, how protective mothers are disbelieved, abuse is minimised, andβ¦

"The recommendations are all designed to provide clarity. That includes changing the name from associates to physician assistants and physician assistants in anaesthesia" @KamranAbbasi and Gillian Leng discuss the review of physician associate and anaesthesia associate roles
(3/7) This exposes a system that routinely silences survivors, protects abusers, and tears children from safe, loving mothers. It reveals the horrific truth: when women report abuse, the court often punishes them.

This is devastating news. I sadly suspect this will become more commonplace too. Fix this @wesstreeting. From this year. This cycle.
