I'm going to try a little experiment. It's just gone 9:00am, London and parts of southern England are under an "Amber" weather warning, let's how long it takes for the sewage dumping to start and how it progresses over the next few hours. Oh look, it's only been raining for a…
The UK has some strong targets around halting nature loss & deforestation globally by 2030🌳 But, as asked by @CommonsEAC - where is legislation to ensure that businesses stop using or selling goods including palm oil, beef & soy linked to deforestation? uk.news.yahoo.com/mps-urge-minis…
We at @UNBiodiversity welcome the launch of the #GlobalWetlandOutlook2025 calling for transformative change and greater cooperation. This constitutes a timely evidence-based call to action with linkages with the race to implement the Global Biodiversity Framework #KMGBF.

So when is @LBofBexley @TeresaONeillLBB regime going to stop using glyphosate and ban its use on allotments sites and other council-owned land? Splashing poisons around and depressing biodiversity is NOT #MakingBexleyEvenBetter

Water companies were sold for £6bn in 1989 and had no debt. During that time they have paid out £84bn to their shareholders and have invested nothing in infrastructure. Now they have hiked customer bills to pay for the infrastructure. #r4today x.com/Channel4News/s…
Water companies have ‘cheated us out of £84 billion’ – Feargal Sharkey channel4.com/news/water-com…
This really says it all. One of the most respected water activists submits a detailed dossier on water company illegality to the Cunliffe review & they completely ignore the issue, proposing instead a new regulator who can continue to ignore the rampant criminality in the water…
Cunliffe doesn't refer to "illegality". Only once to "illegal" saying it is difficult to say "whether a storm overflow discharge is legal or illegal. I submitted extensive evidence of water company illegality but no reference is made. @Feargal_Sharkey @MattStaniek @WindrushWasp

A third of all countries!
“Over five and a half million hectares of forest have gone up in flames so far this year across Canada. To put it in perspective, there are 72 countries in the world whose entire land mass is smaller than that.” (That’s more than a third of all countries)
Sure @BexleyLabour supports free-market economy - ought to mean you can refuse to pay full whack for shoddy workmanship. Especially when you are held hostage by a failing monopoly like Thames Water that hasn't fulfilled its legal obligations. Does it support non-payers?
Krishnan Guru-Murthy: "These water companies say they're putting £billions in." Feargal Sharkey: "They’ve taken away £84 billion of our money in dividends and created £74 billion of debt…We've been cheated.”
Sustainable Aviation Fuel accounts for *less than 1%* of global aviation fuel consumption. The industry target for this year is 5%. [Note to readers: SAFs should be considered “lower carbon”, not “carbon neutral”]

This govt misrepresents facts, ignores scientific definitions and wants to bypass public accountability to push a tech-food agenda at any cost. Result? UNLABELLED genetically engineered food on your plate…. from November 25. Help us stop it in court! crowdjustice.com/case/stop-hidd…
The only reading material you'll need today, The People's Commission report into the water industry. Quite brilliant.
The privatised water model has failed and a shift to public ownership is required for these reasons: 1. All bill payers money is used for water services. We are not servicing eye watering debt of between 21-50% of bills. Surplus funds are reinvested. #peoplescommission…
Can @BexleyLabour confirm that Reed will be writing to @LBofBexley @TeresaONeillLBB as a matter of urgency, instructing them to stop road run-off - that it left spewing out of a pipe half way up the road bank - polluting #ThamesRdWetland NOT #MakingBexleyEvenBetter . #Thames21
This is what I want to read over my cornflakes. Steve Reed recognises that runoff from farms & roads also makes up a critical part of the pollutants going into rivers. My work here is done 😃theguardian.com/environment/20…
Water bosses are making a mockery of the govt’s flagship water bill. Barred from awarding pollution-linked bonuses, they’ve simply hiked salaries or rebranded payouts as “retention payments.” Same execs, same sewage, just dirtier accounting Hmm…I wonder how we stop this? 🤔

Heavy rain causes river pollution. ⛈️💩 Calling all Londoners! 📢 De-pave, install water butts/rain planters/rain gardens! + Ask your council to put rain gardens in roads. #Depave #Regreen #GreyToGreen @hackneygazette @hackneycouncil @NewhamRecorder @NewhamLondon @metecoban92
The sensor in the River Lea at the Olympic Park shows how it's struggling tonight. Pollution washed in by rain saw dissolved oxygen fall. It increased a little but is now sluggish. Still above the 20% danger threshold thankfully. It wants to be healthy, despite everything!
