“The world is on the brink of a breakthrough in the climate fight and fossil fuels are running out of road, the UN chief said on Tuesday, as he urged countries to funnel support into low-carbon energy.” And… cue the Doomers, in 3,2,1…

Very cool forthcoming study points to the role played by the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone Park in allowing aspen stands to grow fully (thanks to increased predation of elk).

ICAO's 'Net Zero Carbon by 2050 Target' for the International Aviation sector would see nearly a Gt of CO2 emitted each year by 2050 (which presumably would be 'Net Zeroafied' through offsets)🥴

Climate change increases the likelihood and intensity of many types of weather extremes. Recent droughts and heatwaves have been worsened by human-caused climate change. Since the 1870s, global famine levels have declined significantly thanks to improved agricultural production…
Extreme weather isn't caused by climate change. Recent droughts or heat waves are not unprecedented. In 1877, 4% of the Earth's population died due to a famine induced by worst drought in past 250-years, or longer. "Net Zero" will not lower cost of food.

Ford says PM Carney stayed at his cottage last night after dinner with the premiers. “We had dinner. We were up till 12:30 at night, chatting in front of the fireplace, solving all the world's problems,” Ford said, calling Carney “the most humble person you'd ever want to meet.”
Oh so easy… if you have a full gear repair shop and associated tools and materials 👍
an easy way to repair damaged gears without having to replace them with new ones.
Last year still holds the record for most flights recorded in a single day. 275,690 flights! If this year's going to take the cake it will likely be later this week.
Will 2025 set a new record? The annual peak for number of flights tracked usually occurs around the third week of July. Last year set a new record, with 275,690 flights (on July 19th).
SSP2-4.5 is the climate scenario which (mainstream) scientists appear to favour as the most likely, given existing emissions trajectories. This leads to about 2.7°C warming relative to 1850-1900 baseline by 2100 (as a mean estimate). BUT… time doesn’t stop in 2100. Even the…

Why the weather’s been so nice these past couple days (in my neck of the woods)…
The comfortable air over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday took a winding, 4,500 mile journey from Banks Island in the Arctic over the past week. If it were January, it would be frigid. But in July, it's fantastic. Enjoy it! 😎
