Yesterday in #NewHampshire, the principal of rising air, cooling, and becoming saturated on display, as air flows over mountains. On the downwind side, sinking air warms and relative humidity falls so that the clouds dissipate.

🤔DYK that we saw local impacts from the July 16th Alaskan earthquake. Impacts are relative as you wouldn't have noticed but we had a seiche over Lake Pontchartrain. The largest change in water height was only 0.7" of a foot but lake sensors easily detected this. #earthquake 🫨

Aside from waves on the water, we can get visible waves in our atmosphere called Kevin-Helmholtz clouds. When the air’s upper layer winds move at faster speeds than the layer below it, it can cause the cloud tops to spill over like that of a breaking wave. #flwx
