This is one of the most true comments - I d add that many medical leaders join that narrative as the price to get ‘in the tent’
Reflection from a decade of working in many national organisations: Most of the NHS leadership and politicians generally see Doctors as an irritant. A hassle in the path of amazing progress. Unless you change that viewpoint? You will not have much happiness in the medical…

I like Dom Perignon, Jim. A bottle of that in 2008 cost about £137. That's around £223 now after inflation. As you'll know from the HoL cellars: vintages vary, but that's around the current price. However…. (🧵1/5)

Maternal outcomes are a scandal in the UK. Absolutely blockbuster paper here from a few of my personal (s)heros @ProfJennyGamble and @DrSteveRobson, that sheds some light. A thread of the highlights. 🧵 1/ obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11…
The resident doctors I work with tell me that this has also happened in much of Psychiatry training too. We need to rediscover the joy of supervision as well as the value it brings to the training of residents and reverse mentoring of their clinical supervisors.
Clinical supervision used to be the heart of psychotherapy training—regular meetings with a trusted, expert teacher/mentor to discuss your clinical cases on an ongoing basis Now often reduced to just an administrative role. Did you collect intake forms? Finish your notes?👇
Yes this was really excellent- i think it also quietly points a finger at modern senior medical leadership and the disaster that has occurred on their watch with a failure to recognise what resident doctors were being put through
Important read. It’s about much more than money, but accepting that resident doctors deserve decent payment would be a good start.

“So it’s tempting to write off the BMA as just another whiny, entitled, self-serving trade union — the RMT in clinical scrubs. Which is why it may surprise people for me to argue that they’ve actually got a point.” thetimes.com/article/9a84da…
