Sad day in the Pineywoods. According to a family post, legendary @Lufkin_Hoops coach Jesse Walker passed away Sunday morning. He coached the Pack to the 1979 @uiltexas championship. He is second all time in wins at Lufkin. @Tabchoops @hoopinsider

How it looks right now on my district’s social media after they announced they are banning phones, which BTW they are not. The state is banning them. We are just following the law of the land.
Don’t be fooled. Governor Abbott wants to replace 1 STAAR test with THREE high-stakes tests PER YEAR created & manipulated by his commissioner. This scheme should never see the light of day. We will never be truly free of the testing insanity as long as Gov. Abbott is governor.
During the Special Session beginning Monday, Legislators have the opportunity to END the STAAR test in public schools. Do it.
Y’all know how much I despise the STAAR test …written at a higher grade level/sets up kids to fail, on-line only, requires 8+yr olds to type answers, graded by AI (faulty scoring, can appeal but costs $). But replacing w 3x/yr tests written by same test co and TEA? No thanks.

The whole “End the STAAR test” special session claim really means replace it. It’s important that schools still be able to challenge results regardless given what we now know about the accuracy of 3-10 reading scores.
