Mother. Middle class woman of a certain age.
REVEALED: the full, devastating impact of Labour’s VAT raid on private schools. Over 16,000 pupils have left private schools due to VAT on fees. Where Labour said 3,000 would leave by July, it is now even more certain that this policy is loss making. telegraph.co.uk/money/tax/deva…
They crucified Thatcher as ‘milk snatcher’ merely for denying children a 1/3 pint of milk. Phillipson denies them a school and they say - absolutely nothing.
Child with SEN having to leave independent education because of the VAT. No Year 11 place. What was that about educating "our" children @bphillipsonMP
This headline is a lie. There are 400 fewer teachers than when @UKLabour came to office, and the lowest number of teachers entering the state sector since records began. Why are media outlets publishing this nonsense? yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/opinion/c…
This is disingenuous in the extreme @10DowningStreet you should be ashamed of yourselves some of us have spent a lifetime building educational infrastructure and you are vandalising it & harming children & teachers. It’s shameful.
Labour has turned the tide on teacher recruitment and retention. We've driven up school attendance. We're saving parents money with free breakfast clubs and cheaper uniform costs. The Tories have one policy: cut state school budgets to restore private school tax breaks.
Bridget Phillipson out here doing victory laps for putting a bit of jam on the crumbs she threw on the floor. "Free breakfasts" and cheaper uniforms? That’s not an education policy it’s a bribe with Frosties. While kids can’t read, can’t add up, and the only thing they leave…
Incredible that @bphillipsonMP describes @NeilDotObrien as “very shouty”. After 1 year, all Bridget has to bleat about is a second breakfast for some children & iron badges for blazers. The only tide that has turned is the people of Houghton & Sunderland South wanting her out.

The education media are still trying their utmost to protect @UKLabour. Apparently, pledging "6500 new expert teachers" in a manifesto and then entirely abandoning it inside a year is 'clarifying' the pledge. The only thing Labour 'clarified' is that they LIED.
Where are the 6,500 extra teachers which the education tax gouge was going to pay for and which HMT lawyers told the High Court was a benefit which justified the discriminatory taxation? ‘Tough but fair’ @10DowningStreet said. With no benefit & trashing children’s education…
He is a liar. It’s what they do. When will the press and the opposition grasp that he doesn’t care what they think!!! He’s using them to legitimise the lies. There is only one way to deal with habitual liars - you deny them the audience they need.
There are 1.3 million people on social housing waiting lists in England alone. But Keir Starmer believes there’s ‘lots of housing’ spare we should be giving to illegal migrants That’s madness. What is he going on about?
The VAT is going to be a net cost to @hmtreasury as a consequence of migration from independent schools into state schools and home schooling which will take earners out of the economy. It’s disingenuous in the extreme to suggest that those paying fees for education are taking…
Absolutely incredible that @bphillipsonMP says those opposing VAT on private school fees “want to take money out of our state schools to give tax breaks to private schools”. Over 5x the number of children the Gov predicted would leave by July ‘25 left in Jan ‘25. Still she lies.
In a strong field of dodging answering questions, @bphillipsonMP may have just given the worst one yet. I asked could she tell the house how much the increase in employer National Insurance will cost schools in total over this Parliament? Lord knows what she was talking about.
Labour need to come clean. They’ve broken their manifesto pledge to recruit 6,500 more teachers. The Government’s own figures show there are now 400 fewer than last year.
Parents that are actively engaged in their child's school career have the equivalent impact of adding 2-3 years to their education. If we're serious about 'breaking down barriers' or whatever the latest focus-group-approved phrase is, we need less State and more family.
If he carries on as he is, the PM will be remembered for destroying school standards in this country. There is no evidence that Labour’s disastrous Schools Bill will improve a single school, indeed it will make them worse. It is education vandalism & we will fight it.
