“Extremist” Resident Doctor. Waging a one man war against the NHS white plastic apron. 🚴🏻♂️🏔⛷🏃🏻♂️
I’m just a Junior Doctor, standing in front of a Health Secretary, asking him to pay me as much as a Junior Doctor 15 years ago
As soon as I see a senior doctor advocating for 24 hour on calls for residents, I know I can disregard all of their opinions regarding the current state of medical training. On my psych job maybe, but 24 hour medical on calls would be catastrophically dangerous
All the more reason to argue for a return to full 24-h ‘proper resident’ on-call. It’s not difficult to see the advantages🤔 Time to ignore the BMA, who are killing off the vestigial remains of professional credibility, read the 🐘 in the room and rescue trainees from further…
repost from Reddit. A Trust in the U.K. tonight, without any strikes taking place. @wesstreeting @ShaunLintern @SkyNews @LBCNews
From someone who helped create this mess, this smug deflection is almost impressive. The usual ill-informed take from the permanently comfortable — baffled that doctors are angry while watching their profession gutted in real time. “Different groups celebrated” — sure.…
1/ Now the embargo has lifted, I’ve had time to read the @lengreview in full. While some celebrate minor cosmetic wins, I see the formal entrenchment of a parallel, underqualified medical workforce — built without medical training.
Not just thanks to Lab From being 31% down in real terms in 2023, after 15 months of strike action, we achieved 22% uplift over 2 years 8.8% in 23/24 already awarded and 24/25 8% was already written when Lab came in (17.5%) Lab only added 4.05% 1/
After a 28.9% pay rise thanks to a Labour government, patients and the public will be dismayed that the BMA is choosing to strike - and so am I. I have written to the BMA today reaffirming our preference to work together to improve their working lives and rebuild our NHS.
We can’t have a grown up conversation because the media lost its fucking mind when millionaire pensions lost £200
'Surely it's time for a grown-up conversation about the challenges we face and bravery from our politicians,' says @SophyRidgeSky as the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) warning the public finances are in a "relatively vulnerable position." trib.al/XPNR27a
Fully support the Resident doctors They shouldn’t have to subsidise our healthcare while watching their medically unqualified assistants earn £10K more from day one
Triple Lock needs to be replaced with a single lock indexing the State Pension to average earnings growth. It will be far more sustainable and give pensioners more of a stake in productivity gains.
The triple lock has cost around 3x more than expected. In our central projection, the triple lock explains 1.6pts of the 2.7% of GDP rise in state pension spending. If recent volatility persists, it could add a further 1.5pts; a steadier path could reduce it by 1.3pts.
Yes we know this is what patients want ✅. So why does our govt persist with GP replacement schemes?! ❌.
70% of Britons believe that medical graduates who studied in the UK should be given priority for junior doctor roles, a policy expected to be included in next week's NHS ten-year plan They should: 70% They should not: 11%
