If you can't see it, you can't be it Without accepting and normalising differences of ability we will lose valuable insights, perspectives and unique skills. #DisabilityPrideMonth
Today is the start of #DisabilityPrideMonth Through the month, we’ll share examples of how we’re supporting more inclusive practices for doctors and patients. Read from our new RB deputy chair @SAS_DrClodagh on normalising disability in the workplace bma.org.uk/news-and-opini…
A new treasurer and deputy chair of @TheBMA representative body have also been elected by the association's members. GP @peterjpholden becomes treasurer, and @SAS_DrClodagh is the new deputy chair of RB👏 bma.org.uk/news-and-opini…
Well that's one way to lose a potential c.200k voters and their families... @TheBMA bbc.com/news/articles/…
Inaction Man Streeting. All mouth. No motion. @BMAResidents strike for our future. We want the NHS to be there when it's needed
For millions of patients, the NHS is no longer there for them when they need it. Rishi Sunak is Inaction Man, refusing to meet with doctors to end NHS strikes and adding to the Tories' NHS backlog. It will take Labour - the Party of the NHS - to restore it to good health.
We support our resident doctor colleagues in their fight for #PayRestoration SAS doctors: show your solidarity with resident doctors Read our guidance on working during the strikes bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/…
At today's RDC meeting, we’ve voted to go ahead with strike action. Last week when we met @wesstreeting we were open to finding solutions to restore pay and improve working conditions. Today, we still do not have a credible offer on the table @Melissa_S_Ryan @RossNieuwoudt
SAS doctors in England, it’s time to be seen. Vote YES for fair pay and proper recognition bma.org.uk/SASpay #SASdoctors
Thank you Wes, this is progress. Im sure it wont pacify all voices on this (you never can), but there are very many important concessions i.e. name (assistants) & appearance, and major restrictions on seeing undifferentiated patients. I know you want less top down control from…
I took seriously the concerns being raised with me about physician associate roles and commissioned Gillian Leng to do a proper review that followed the evidence. Now I will act - starting immediately. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
The #LengReview has published. It doesn't go far enough but it's a start. Now we need to see if devolved health ministers will act on the identified patient safety risks or do our patients not matter? @mikenesbittni @TheBMA @BMA_NI tinyurl.com/46zhdf56
.@BMAResidents asked @wesstreeting in May for talks, and he ignored them until after they balloted for strikes Then he had the audacity to lie about them “refusing to meet” Now he’s doing the same to @BMA_Consultants So who’s the unreasonable negotiating partner here?!
It’s worth noting consultants have written to the secretary of state asking for a meeting too, we’ve been completely ignored without even a reply so far.
Regttable to lose any member. Very regrettable that an 84yo who did not suffer pay erosion and retired on a golden pension should choose to leave over action to protect the future viability of his profession. @TheBMA @BMAResidents shorturl.at/VaGkn
The BMA is aware of a number of social media posts and queries about motions passed at ARM, relating to the crisis in Gaza. Some information being shared is incorrect, so we've released a statement to provide clarity. Read it here: bma.org.uk/what-we-do/wor…
That time of year again where I pay to work, subsidise the private healthcare of the @gmcuk staff and maintain our dysfunctional regulator. Join @TheBMA register and help influence reform. shorturl.at/oq9F2

The GMC has failed. They have argued in court they have neither a statutory duty to protect the public nor a legal duty of care towards the doctors they investigate. Join @TheBMA alternative register to help us create a compassionate & effective regulator shorturl.at/oq9F2
GPs in NI make it clear to @mikenesbittni that imposing a grossly subpar contract will put the nail in the coffin of barely breathing practices. Make your voices heard! Vote yes for collective action @BMA_NI

Saving money by targeting disabled people was an abhorrent tactic. PIP gives me the freedom and ability to work, contribute to the economy and hopefully people's health. Disability is not a choice. Don't punish me for it. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
ED bedwaits are the manifestation of decades of underinvestment and deprioritisation of health and vital social care services and the beating heart - its staff. Now we're left totally broken. @mikenesbittni you need to act now. Not in September as you've suggested. @BMA_NI
Looking forward to working with @aakochhar to deliver for RB. @DrLatifaPatel we will strive to fill your disproportionately large boots @TheBMA
Congratulations to @aakochhar on being elected as the new BMA Chair of Representative Body at #BMAARM25. We’re deeply grateful to @DrLatifaPatel for her dedication and contributions in the role.
Deputy chair of BMA's NI Council and ED specialty doctor @SAS_DrClodagh spoke to @BBCNewsNI today about "soul destroying" conditions in EDs across the country. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
So overwhelmed today being voted Deputy Chair of the Representative Body. Very grateful for the support. I promise RB, I won't let you down #BMAARM25 @BMA_NI @TheBMA
