Removal of BTECs will have a real impact on students with SEND who often use these as a stepping stone into higher education or work. This government needs to test any reform against its aspirations to get disabled people into work. share.google/xvoKu3zZ1IPpqP…
I’m speaking at Best Beginnings on 4 Nov in London! My session: Nurturing School Readiness Through Play, exploring how play supports emotional, social & cognitive growth. Let’s put children, not systems, at the heart of readiness. 💬 Join us 👉 earlyyearstoschool.com
The UK needs to stop all arms exports to the Israeli Government - today.
MPs are looking into the trouble disabled people, carers, & families have in getting vital equipment. They are asking for evidence. These surveys can go into the House of Commons library, so worth 5 minutes if, like us you've struggled. #SEND #disability surveymonkey.com/r/9Q3KFVR
We must start talking about the damage constant online/media rage is doing to our kids/communities. This toxic way of doing things isn't solving anything, it's part of the problem. People are skint, isolated & feel completely forgotten. You can feel the lack of hope & despair.

For-profit, foreign-owned special school provider Witherslack Group’s post-tax profits were up by 28% in a year to £45m. LAs must be able to set up their own schools, maybe with other LAs. And the Government MUST limit profits made from public money schoolsweek.co.uk/abu-dhabi-owne…

Ofsted has missed nearly all internal inspection targets this year, its staff are less positive about working there and one in 10 left, the watchdog’s annual report and accounts reveal schoolsweek.co.uk/missed-inspect…
In 3 years 472 pupils left "before the scheduled end of their time at the school." 28% had SEND; 39% had no alternative school to go to. All this is bad enough but I really hope it's not true staff were expected to issue 25 detentions each, every week. share.google/WmYCVRQtLO0ukJ…
Really grateful to @GMB for bringing this issue to the fore. I hope @RCPCHtweets will now discuss with Professor Andy Bilson, Professor Luke Clements, Dr Fiona Gullon-Scott, Cathie Long and @emilydugan amongst many others. Time for change 🙏💜
The solution is more: care, support, resources. But this costs money. Which is the reason they're not getting it. Remember this when education consultants call for less support, less diagnosis, more control, more punishment. They're not saving SEND kids. They're segregating them.
