Thank you to Elly for speaking up about her family's experience of false FII claims. We know this is happening to families with Long Covid - even from mother & child both having the illness. Instead of care there are accusations of abuse - urgent reform is needed @RCPCHtweets

"The whole system comes at you with such speed and velocity..." It sure does. When you ask (education, healthcare, social care) for help but instead they close ranks, do a 180, and point the finger of blame directly at you. It's intimidating and terrifying. #longcovidkids

Great interview. The parents and the kids that end up with PTSD after FII investigations, so much harm done, all completely avoidable.

Acknowledging different styles of parent communication as identified by those professionals is incredibly important.

Fii is there go to when you either raise completely valid concerns and some see this as some kind of threat rather than actually listening to carers who often advocate best for our kiddies , or their deem what ever this could led to as expensive ie social care package, health…

Thank you so much Elly. I was sobbing today when saw it on good morning. It's the start of exposure 🙏 they took my two boys off me for over three years. I'm still not properly in their lives and was that targeted by Staffordshire social services I had to move to Cheshire.

Well done, Elly. I’ve lived this too. Accused, judged, punished—for trying to get help when my disabled daughter was unwell. I know her best. I’m her voice. They knew us seconds and turned our world upside down. No one’s ever held accountable & the trauma never leaves you. #FII

A school admitted to inappropriately using restraint & seclusion on my disabled 6 year old son... Yet when I took the matter further, I was repeatedly threatened with social services which meant I was unable to seek the help my child needed for fear he would be removed from me.
