‘Love of money is the root of all kinds of evil’—yep, and that includes lazy IP stamping and the soulless raping of others work. How did the gaming industry get FULL of people who don’t give a damn about games, and just chase after $$$? Passion’s dead, and it shows. As an…
Not a fan of "building in public" culture. You end up creating an average of all loud opinions, burn yourself to mediocrity by pleasing everyone—sacrificing originality. The end result will be made by the people for the people, not by the artist. Feedback is useful if it is…
A scorpion wanted to cross a river, but could not swim. It asked a frog to carry it across. "How do I know you won’t sting and kill me?" said the frog. "I'd love to sting you and will definitely do it," said the scorpion. "I’m sure you don’t mean that," said the frog. "Hop on."
Yo @rtfeldman where's the episode with Ryan Fleury?
Wow, that is some seriously impressive tooling! I'd love to talk about it with you on the @sw_unscripted podcast if you're interested - languages and performance are the most common topics we talk about, and some past guests you know are Casey, Ryan Fleury, and Chris Lattner.
Is everyone fucking nuts? Did we actually believe that after decades and decades of studying the brain and coming up with next to zilch, that a handful of rich, arrogant midwits in Silicon Valley would come to a full understanding of consciousness and deliver to us artificial…
BREAKING: Apple just proved AI "reasoning" models like Claude, DeepSeek-R1, and o3-mini don't actually reason at all. They just memorize patterns really well. Here's what Apple discovered: (hint: we're not as close to AGI as the hype suggests)
We used to do this before we invented the combined term "UI/UX" which became popular around 2010. I think design community needs some self-instrospection on how it went off the rails so hard. NASA homepage 2007 vs 2025.
why do we bury so many things in menus when this image has so many options with labels and easily fits on a small part of my screen 🤔
It can all be so much more beautiful. Even the simple things... the soaps, the sinks, the lamps, and even the door knobs. All of it could delight us, if only we cared a little more. The problem isn't a lack of money. The problem is apathy. Making something beautiful begins with…
I read this article about software development, which I knew about because I saw Prime reacting to it: notashelf.dev/posts/curse-of… For the most part I think it is fine: a relatively young programmer is doing the healthy work of introspecting on what he should really be doing. But…
Programming got so much easier for me when I stopped thinking in terms of language features / patterns / libraries / architecture and started thinking in terms of data structures and functions that modify them. Load/modify/store. That's all computers do.
Art can be used to share an interpretation of the meaning of life or the universe. It can be a vision of a reshaped universe through our creative process. It can be unpredictable chaos. It can just be. To view art only through the political lens is unbelievably narrow-minded.
“But whether FOSS really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a tech oligarchy as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.”
Daily reminder: surround yourself with beautiful finishings in natural materials to improve your inner energy.
VS: "We're just expanding the array, each element comes with its own factory constructed, RAII managed, observer-pattern-wrapped UI component, dynamically allocated after fetching layout data via a JSON-over-WebSocket pipeline, which is then lovingly deserialized through three…

Made a music video using veo 2. Music: Steve Moore. Due to my strong personal convictions I wish to stress that this film in no way endorses a belief in the occult.
Magnificent. Make structures authentic again!
Brick, stone, wood, steel. We love authentic materials!
Whoever first fetishized "readability" needs to have their license revoked. Reading code is a skill one can hone, and in fact *must* hone if they are to find success as a programmer. Stop obsessing over what code looks like. It does not make you better at programming.
The fact that 99% of the discussion caused by this tweet was focused on (a) indentation, (b) if(0){}, or (c) nesting, rather than the actual point being made in the video about software architecture, is an indictment on all of programming Twitter

I think i hit a nerve... :-)
