Hello! I'm Gustavo Pezzi 🇧🇷. I am a university lecturer in London & the founder of pikuma.com, where I teach low-level #CS & #Math. At , everything is taught from first principles. Zero ego; zero gimmicks. Come take a course with us! 🧉😉

I beg to differ. 😅
math is the only thing keeping most devs from learning AI
Ah yes. Good ol' Malbolge. ❤️
After my recent news, many people have asked me: "Why not Rust?" Here's my answer:
The biggest CAD architecture software I worked on stored all its data on plain XML text files. Big money was made. Do what you gotta do.
friendly reminder relational databases shouldn't have JSON in them

Saw you going through old treasures the other day Gustavo. Well, guess what? I found some of my own too! @pikuma
Animation style goes viral, everyone says they'd love to play a game like this, hundreds of shares, people are literally losing their minds over it! Reality: "Look, if you're going to charge more than $5 for your indie game then you are basically asking for people to pirate it."

We used a simpler version of the LZ77 compression algorithm to extract some texture assets of the Wipeout CD-ROM for our PlayStation Programming module. The LZ4 is another compression technique based on LZ77 but the LZ4 is optimized for speed rather than compression ratio.
💎 Git Gems 0x25: LZ4 LZ4 is lossless compression algorithm, providing compression speed > 500 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-cores CPU. It features an extremely fast decoder, with speed in multiple GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems.…
The Chip Letter did a great job detailing the history of MIPS. open.substack.com/pub/thechiplet…
My toddler is a merciless negotiator though.

Good ol' 444.
Some people should have read-only access to the internet.
Or you can just live and enjoy things without worrying about output. I don't go to an Eric Clapton concert and think "oh boy, I hope this helps me improve my blues chops faster." Just close your eyes, listen to the music, and feel something for crying out loud. Live the moment!
Pro tip that I don’t follow nearly enough: Consuming great, high-quality content takes mental energy that could be spent building things. So you should control your consumption very carefully, even if it’s top-level content. Reading and thinking will lead to you building…
Hm, this sounds like true at first but I believe context can also add to the aesthetics. Knowing how hard it was to find/make a pigment, or the historical reasons and geographical constraints that led certain painters to make the choices they made; it's all part of the beauty.
If you need to attend a lecture to realize that a painting is beautiful, it's not beautiful.
I’m flying to Brazil and I’ll be reading “The Art of Doing Science and Engineering”. It’s a beautiful coincidence because @pikuma is the person who recommended it.
Beautiful green color. We had a dark maroon one and I liked to sit in the trunk part behind the back seat.
