The issue isn’t the length of the summer holiday, which is one of the shortest in the world. The issue is a lack of investment in clubs, activities, camps & things for kids to do. Schools aren’t a babysitting service & our core purpose risks being severely undermined.

As we mark the 30th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica I’m reminded of the first-hand accounts we heard when visiting last year with @BeyondSreb. They will never leave me. So very proud to be asked to light a candle at the memorial in St Paul’s last month.

On Friday #SrebrenicaMemorialDay marks 30 years since the atrocities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Earlier this year, Victims Minister Siobhian Brown visited Srebrenica with @beyondsreb and paid tribute to the victims and survivors.
As the world marks 30 years since the Bosnian genocide we remember and we resolve for a better future with those who survived. Thank you to @BeyondSreb for all the work you do. I was honoured to travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina with you earlier this year to learn and encounter.
