My latest for @MiddleEastMnt Stop Letting Gaza Starve – The World Must Act Now 🇵🇸 ‘The images emerging from Gaza that we bear witness to every day are heart-wrenching. As July closes, we are witnessing some of the deadliest moments of this ongoing catastrophe.’ To read more…
Recognising the State of Palestine, at the height of the genocide, is a belated act of coherence that, HOWEVER, if not supported by concrete actions to end apartheid and its associated crimes, risks distracting from the existential threat the Palestinian people face right now.
Now watch as Zionists pressure Australian Jews to “come home” not because of danger, but because Prime Minister Anthony Albanese @AlboMPdared to defy Israeli policy. Zionism never protected Jews, it used them. Source @authenttorahjew @TorahJudaism
On the bloody nose. Ashamed of the silence of all but a very few in my industry all these months.
Writer can no longer stay silent
Continued my journey through Toshirō Mifune films last night with I Live in Fear. Amazing performance. And again, stellar performances from the usual Kurosawa cast especially the brilliant Takashi Shimura.
Just landed in Heathrow Airport T3. Went into M&S. Three staff working. I said to them “IRANU”. None of them responded with "UVAVU". I have a voice recording & their names to report to M&S. We must confront them every time.
Hope #TEACH2025 includes critique of how schools have historically constructed ability, how this reflects class, gender, race, who and what is considered "smart." Especially important with power of standardized tests.
"In the history of American schooling, we've been told that what matters is being smart, and working hard. And that's true...but what matters more are the conditions." - @MisterMinor on the importance of safe, welcoming schools to give kids the space to learn. #TEACH25
Be sure to have great big diagrams and icons to increase the page count and hide the lack of actual content.
My new book: The truth about bullsh*tting By those that don’t teach or didn’t teach for long and hopelessly biased towards a bankrupt vision of teaching.
Every editor who canceled a story about Palestine brought us here. Every boss who censored an employee. Everyone who said “not this way” to protesters. Every university admin calling the cops. Bloody. All your hands are bloody, and we will never forget.
It's amazing Labour is preparing, with full benefit of hindsight and four years to spare, to repeat the Democrats' error.
The people who *want* a viable Reform threat are those at the top of the Labour Party. They *want* the next election to be Labour vs Reform, so Reform has to look credible. A "Cabinet source" quoted in the Guardian, 3 May 2025.

It is simply remarkable how much the recent pivots to condemning Israel are premised on fabricating a recent watershed, on summoning a new history of events. Hind Rajab was killed a year and a half ago. The ICJ case was filed in 2023.
"Ah," said the wise journalist serenely, "but you opposed the genocide then because you merely hate genocide, whereas i oppose it now because i have calculated that it's the most pragmatic position, therefore i am more ethical than you"
The UK says it condemns Israel’s actions, yet continues to approve arms exports and offer diplomatic cover. You can’t condemn atrocities while enabling them. Real accountability means action, not just words.
We welcome the statement by the U.K. and 25 international partners calling for an immediate end to Israel’s aggression on Gaza. The time for “strongly worded statements” has long passed. Israel will not stop this genocide unless compelled. And it will only be compelled when met…
I’ll tell you this, @henrywinter (on Substack) knows a phrase when he comes up with it “…. Those black-and-white shirts resemble bar-codes to Liverpool. Scan and deliver.” #Isak Has, for many years, been the best English football writer
We are looking for a Customer Service Assistant (18 month fixed-term contract) to join the GTC Scotland team. Find out more about the role on our website. gtcs.org.uk/about-us/vacan…
Which message do you think Israel hears? The belated words or the continuing arms supplies?
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.
Reminder: the State of Palestine is not Hamas. The State of Palestine is the one that has experienced 57 times the death toll of October 7 and remained peaceful, not launching a single violent attack in self-defence. A state much more committed to peace than Israel for sure
Horrific images of starving children in Gaza demand action. UNICEF is getting 3 truckloads of baby milk into Gaza as we speak. But it’s far too little for thousands of children at risk of starving to death.
