If someone asks you “what do you do?” within seconds of meeting you — don’t be annoyed. Smile. You’ve just identified a transactional player. Instead, give them the lowest status answer. Then drop your highest IQ insights for the rest of the conversation. This breaks brains.

Imagine that - expecting people to pay into a fund to improve nature that would - wait for it! - actually improve nature when they could just be funding developers' PR. Whether such a fund is a good idea is a question perhaps we should ask.
REALITY DENIAL: this Minister describes the Planning Bill BEFORE the Government's surrender to the Vegetable Lobby. It no longer works like this. Developers pay into the fund AND must demonstrate they are improving nature before any work can start. Double-whammy, not win-win.

The first problem is that the resources of the companies dwarfs that of the regulator. Water companies have a combined revenue of £12bn. Ofwat’s annual budget is around £30m Companies outspend and outgun the regulator every step of the way. Replacing Ofwat won’t change this
