Lab scientists are now resorting to "Go fund me" like campaigns to keep their labs afloat (and not fire personnel). Just awful (but do consider helping them out!).
As of today @Columbia has not received ANY of the terminated funding and many non-competitive renewal of federal grants. Therefore, last week the university starting laying off postdocs. If you care about PANDAS research please support my postdoc joinus.cuimc.columbia.edu/index.cfm?fuse…
Interested in a pretty cool postdoc project with Dr @HenningLanger and I? 🔥
Hey Muscle And Metabolism Folks on Twitter, @LykkeSylow and I are looking for a Postdoc who is interested in applying for a prestigious @DDEA_Denmark fellowship with us. More details in the picture attached. Please share widely! @MYOTWlTTER
Just published: nature.com/articles/s4158… Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is critical for mitochondrial function and for controlling reactive oxygen species damage to biological membranes. Because CoQ10 is poorly bioavailable, new approaches are needed to promote CoQ10 synthesis. In our…
🔬 The Role of Micronutrients in ATP (energy) Production 🔬 Micronutrients, although required in minute quantities, are indispensable catalysts in the metabolic pathways that convert food into energy. These pathways, include glycolysis, the Krebs cycle, and the electron…
wow, a provocative and cool paper. not sure why I missed this earlier. Skin acts as a major and dynamic storage for dietary fat.
Excited to collaboratively publish with Caroline Alexander’s group demonstrating the contribution of dietary lipids to skin lipids and their insulating properties. And proud of Simcox lab member Raghav for leading this collaboration! @NatureComms nature.com/articles/s4146…

Dr. Yonatan Grad, Professor of immunology and infectious diseases comments on the potential impact of recent decisions related to vaccines made by Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Read it here at bit.ly/3T2KPqX
Excited to share our new study arguing for the existence of parallel neural pathways mediated by LepR or non-LepR neurons that each is sufficient to drive obesity. The obesity driven by non-LepR neurons is relevant to DIO and can be a novel neural basis for leptin resistance.

Huge thanks to all the speakers at ADA2025 for sharing excellent science!! It was so fun to organize these sessions with @PaulTitchenell! This one is for you no-social-media-Nav
Pharmaceutical companies like @EliLillyandCo (w bimagrumab) explore ActRIIA/B inhibitors to combat muscle loss in cancer, aging, and weight-loss (e.g., @novonordisk’s Wegovy). Our new study shows quite complex metabolic effects of these inhibitors 😵💫 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Excited to share our latest paper led by Renata Goncalves @RenataG81952725: CoQ imbalance drives reverse electron transport to disrupt liver metabolism. nature.com/articles/s4158… We uncover how altered CoQ redox balance triggers RET and rewires hepatic metabolism to offer…
“Recipe” science. Very accurate description!
Many people are busy doing recipe science.. If you ask a grad student what they need to do to get a paper, they'll tell you this & this, & they'll know that 2 years before the project is done. And I'm thinking, what's wrong with this picture? Eve Marder, on Night Science Podcast
I discuss the urgent crisis from the loss of federal support of science in the US and recent clinical gene editing breakthroughs with @WalterIsaacson & @amanpour on @AmanpourCoPBS, airing on @PBS tonight at 11 pm ET, and on @cnni earlier today. Pls share! youtube.com/watch?v=8YhJM6…
For those of you who aren't aware, cancelling Harvard's F and J visas does not just affect students. It also affects many, many postdoctoral researchers. And critically, it affects OPT holders. These are graduates who stayed here to work in the US, they cannot "transfer"
Breaking News: The Trump administration halted Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, a major escalation in its battle with the school. nyti.ms/3SLG7gW
