Published today! We found that cancer cells adapting to drug treatments don't simply switch from a sensitive to resistant state; instead there's a ‘resistance continuum’ of resistant phenotypes with epigenetically reprogrammed states. 🧵⬇️ nature.com/articles/s4158… @Gustavo_SFranca

"Figures should not be cartoons nor should they be too conceptual, focus on the science." This is an instruction to authors from Science magazine (@ScienceMagazine). But conceptual figures are crucial for communicate a big idea, so shouldn't they be required (not discouraged)?
'Night science' is what you do when you're not sure what's the question.

If you don’t have time to take a walk, then you don’t have time to do science. Charles Darwin would take two walks every day on his "thinking path", not as a break from science, but as a crucial part of it.

The choice when writing up your paper: you can work really hard so that someone else can quickly understand what you did, or you can do it very quickly so that the others will need to work really hard to figure out what you did, unless they simply give up trying..
What do we want? Discoveries! When do we want them? Now! Join us in Prague on Monday for a workshop on ‘Night Science’ - the creative scientific process - to learn the tools that experienced scientists know but which we need to do a better job passing on to the next generation!
In Prague on Monday? Join my workshop on the creative scientific process; about openness, improvising ideas, how a hypothesis can be a liability, AI for hypothesis generation, import/export of ideas, puzzle switching, the 2 languages, questions, contradictions & awe 🙏@SvobodaLab
