#C4News find the girl escaping the fire in the burning classroom after an Israeli strike "I walked through the fire all by myself" "The rubble fell on them (her siblings)" "I want to see my sisters, to be with them, but they're dead" "I want to be with them"
You helped. You gave Israel military support and diplomatic cover. Your complicity in this horror is unspeakable and indefensible
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.
It isn't just the immediate, unbearable horrors of starvation caused by Israel in Gaza. It is, as @muhammadshehad2 harrowingly explains, the permanent, life-changing damage this has created, the terrible harm that will carry into future generations substack.com/home/post/p-16…
.@rachshabi: "The 2 worst things that have happened in terms of people taking antisemitism seriously. One, anyone who wants.. the slaughter in Gaza to stop is decried as antisemitic. Two, its used factionally by political parties to attack their own political opponents"
As always, @rachshabi is so good. Pointing the finger of antisemitism at every criticism of Israel is so damaging because there are people who should be allies who now will not hear it when we call out REAL antisemitism- to them it’s all a smear. & meanwhile Gazans are murdered
.@rachshabi having to explain that 'death to the IDF' is not antisemitic is a sign of how far the smears have gone. And Rachel is right, there are dangerous consequences to that.
.@rachshabi: "For 20mths we've been watching the most grotesque things.. slaughter, war crimes.. people are watching govts & media.. give financial/military support to Israel while it does this.. I respect any artist who uses their platform to call attention to this.." Well said
‘What disturbs you the most about the Glastonbury chants?’ ‘They get more attention than the genocide of Gazans.’ Journalist @rachshabi, who is Jewish, weighs in on the fallout of Bob Vylan’s controversial performance.
Joining @IainDale on LBC radio for Cross Question this evening, 8pm call in, tune in
British-Israeli journalist Rachel Shabi called UK media "a disgrace" for their silence on Israel's bombardment and starvation of Gaza. Citing Israeli politicians' complacency, she blames the lack of coverage and the government's inaction for enabling Israel's war to continue.
This is a textbook example what I mean by the 'fafo' (fuck around, find out) factor, the dehumanising and callous responses to the agony in Gaza rachelshabi.substack.com/p/gaza-and-the…
To all those who complain about the situation in Gaza:
"an Israeli parliamentarian said on Israeli media, we can do what we want, nobody cares, we can kill 100 Palestinians in Gaza over one night & nobody cares.. & it seems our media is determined to prove him right" @rachshabi on the silence of UK newspapers over Israels genocide
Doing the Sky press preview this evening, 10:30pm - unbelievably, this is the only Gaza story across all the front pages (Sunday Telegraph)

This is the most excoriating sentence in a blistering column ‘We would not be here if western reporters and Joe Biden hadn’t manufactured consent for the genocide by repeating the incendiary lie that Hamas had beheaded babies’ theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
A dystopia. Atrocity after atrocity. A living hell that won't stop until international pressure compels Israel to stop middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live…
Shameful behaviour: the BBC won't air the documentary, Gaza: Medics Under Fire - but refuses to release the rights so another broadcaster or platform can air it theguardian.com/media/2025/may…
We are governed by people without a moral conscience. Keir Starmer in particular is a moral black hole. open.substack.com/pub/rachelshab…
.@rachshabi “The failure of western politicians to act, to stop a genocidal war, to halt the catastrophic damage this has caused – to Palestinians in Gaza, primarily, but also to the region, to international law and to our humanity itself – will follow them forever. “

New post: what prompted the UK’s change over Gaza? It’s not that the British government has suddenly found a conscience rachelshabi.substack.com/p/finally-labo…
