Good morning all. I hugely appreciate all the wonderful love- and seen the multiple tweets from seniors suggesting leaving the College @RCPhysicians I would suggest waiting to see if Council overturns this disproportionate decision made (in my opinion) or not. @PhilSmithIsBack…
After @RCPhysicians recent treatment of @parthaskar I will be moving my membership to @RCPEdin. I was so proud when I got MRCP (2010) but I cannot associate myself with this shambles of an organisation any more. A sad day. I urge others to do the same & I wish I’d done it sooner.
The @TheKingsFund review identified serious misconduct by senior people at the @RCPhysicians yet @OGMustafa refused to investigate individuals despite the mantra that the findings were “accepted in full” and that hundreds of fellows had also raised concerns So why was…

physician ASSISTANTS
Physician associates who assist doctors in GP surgeries and hospitals will now be known as assistants. Health Secretary Wes Streeting says this "better describes the role that they do". Read more ➡️ trib.al/aKsx2Nx
I cannot begin to tell you the absolute burst of emotions that comes when you hear this from @wesstreeting 2 years of my life - trying to say this. Battling so many....challenging @gmcuk @NHSEngland @RCPhysicians @AoMRC Putting reputation on the line, personal insults,…

Whilst reading the Leng review & considering the @RCPhysicians response (irony itself) It’s worth remembering this exchange from the exPRCP & current CMO It seems the passionate minority whose rationality was “way down the list..beyond being swayed” - were actually correct?
Doctor pay in the UK is absolutely shocking Home to many of the best clinicians and clinical trialists in the World, criminally undervalued and underpaid
A doctor caring for you at 7pm in A&E earns just £18.62/hr They’re asking to move to £22.67/hr (not even all at once) to undo years of pay erosion. @wesstreeting could stop the strikes by offering a credible path to restore drs pay. The choice is his. bbc.com/news/articles/…
There is no debate about this in my mind. Forget the politicians and all else It's 'we' as senior clinicians who have failed our Generation Next Our lack of standing up? Has brought much of this miserable situation to pass. bmj.com/content/384/bm…
how is allowed for @TravelexUK at @HeathrowAirport terminal 2 to only give you 87 and a bit euros for 100 GBP, when the mid market rate would give 115? (i declined the conversion by the way...)
why isn't anyone comparing doctors to lawyers or bankers- which many bright young people may now chose to be instead
The media love to vilify Doctors - ultimately because many of the British public despise us. They banged pans when we risked our lives during the pandemic. Yet when it comes to T&Cs, our salaries are compared to the UK average 🤦🏻♂️ The public will get the NHS they deserve!
important to check if sampling time the same for cases and controls on disease microbiome studies?
⏰ Even the gut microbiome follows a circadian rhythm. Disrupt that rhythm → dysbiosis & metabolic harm. Another reason to align your meals with your clock.

For @parthaskar For our Royal College For our profession For our patients For all their sake... Please sign if eligible
I’m not usually one for petitions but when someone is ousted from the RCP for raising safety concerns, silence isn’t an option. @parthakar’s removal is shocking. Council must refuse to ratify it next week or risk complicity in the governance failings laid bare in the Kings Fund…
WHOSE culture did you say?🤔🤪
Britain should keep the Elgin Marbles. Those trying to undermine our national culture should be taken on, not appeased. news.sky.com/story/british-…
This graph is workers against CPI inflation (the governments favourite as it's always lower & doesn't include housing costs), blue line is the AVERAGE worker, note their pay has recovered. Consultants in brown. I'm seeing full INCOME TAX RESTORATION where's our pay restoration?
Sick of being called ‘greedy’, Brown line is consultants, way below the zero line, the blue line is average workers, back above zero. Average pay has climbed at about equal rates over last 3 years but consultant pay still nearly 20% down graph (CPI). There’s full tax restoration,…
The BMA Resident Doctors Committee still refuses to meet me. After a 28.9% pay rise, they say another 29% is “non-negotiable.” This is not the way a reasonable trade union behaves.
if this is ratified, will have to start the process for @RCPhysicians to remove me from the fellowship lists (and the billing!), one can still be a fellow but of a different royal college. Yes i believe in change from within, but there comes a point when enough is enough
FINALLY- Decision @RCPhysicians investigation Removal from the Council of an elected member Barring standing for elections 12 months By a panel which is unknown - with zero right to reply. (To be ratified by Council on 15/7) For exposing chicanery around PAs by senior…
In Ilford North, Wes Streeting got 15,647 votes out of 77,835 eligible voters—about 20.1%, or 1 in 5, just as you said. Turnout was 60.2%, and he took 33.4% of that. Meanwhile, 49.5% of eligible resident doctors voted to strike in the latest BMA ballot (90% yes on 55% turnout).…
Most British voters did not vote labour (around 1 in 5 eligible voters did). @grok what proportion of possible votes in his own constituency did @wesstreeting get? Looks like one third of 60% who voted, which also means 1 in 5. Compare this to 49.5% of eligible resident doctors!
Decisions I have taken mean that Resident Doctors have had a 28.9% pay increase covering the last three years. These are not grounds for strike action. And most BMA resident doctors didn’t vote to strike. I will be meeting the BMA today.
