Final push for signatures. @parthaskar deserves better. If you’re a current or former MRCP/FRCP(L) and angry that speaking up for patient safety is now treated like COVID vaccine conspiracism, please sign. I’ll send this to the RCP tomorrow. 🔗 go.dauk.org/pkpetition
Good morning all. I hugely appreciate all the wonderful love- and seen the multiple tweets from seniors suggesting leaving the College @RCPhysicians I would suggest waiting to see if Council overturns this disproportionate decision made (in my opinion) or not. @PhilSmithIsBack…
The @AoMRC has decided to publicly position itself against resident doctor strike action Whether this is within its remit is debatable but it is likely to go against the views of the members of the Royal Colleges it represents Nothing learned from the ill advised “devoid of…
The same @AoRMC that supported the proliferation of PAs? - now undermining residents for their honours The most serious failure of leadership is the failure to foresee. Who are our ‘leaders’ and who do they represent?
An interesting thread And we owe a lot to the anons - many of whom have done painstaking research and FOIs which undoubtedly made a difference But I want to acknowledge those brave enough to show up and speak out without being anon - for many that has cost them a lot
1/n I want to say something about PAs. I don’t know yet if this will be long or short cause I am not psychic. What I do know is this: the situation has become a mess. Not just administratively. Not just professionally. But emotionally. And it’s going to leave scars.
The real frustration is it should not have taken the RCP EGM, Kings Fund Review and Leng Review to get us here Patients at risk and harmed and sadly deaths because of this So much time and money wasted …and no accountability for those in the RCP and FPA or DHSC, NHSE and…
PAs have a role as physician assistants Your government is using PAs to replace doctors - ARSS funding in primary care has accelerated this in General Practice Barclay said when SoS in the HoC that PA recruitment was a lever to break the doctors strikes
With looming strikes can @wesstreeting clarify what will be done about the fact that a Dr’s assistant out earns a qualified Dr for the first few gruelling years of postgraduate working life for Drs in the NHS? We need to retain those qualified to practice medicine in the U.K.
I took seriously the concerns being raised with me about physician associate roles and commissioned Gillian Leng to do a proper review that followed the evidence. Now I will act - starting immediately. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

FINALLY- Decision @RCPhysicians investigation Removal from the Council of an elected member Barring standing for elections 12 months By a panel which is unknown - with zero right to reply. (To be ratified by Council on 15/7) For exposing chicanery around PAs by senior…
The most astonishing thing is to read this then recall the self aggrandising candidate statements from internal candidates in the recent @RCPhysicians elections- - taking shameless credit for major policy change that @parthaskar had to drag them to kicking & screaming “BE KIND”

90% vote FOR industrial action (55% turnout) This isn’t greed - it’s a marker of distress @wesstreeting these doctors are our future - they need to be paid fairly commensurate with their education & training and for the vital & demanding work they do bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Woefully slow non-reassuring response so far Widespread reports of this issue affecting more than confirmed by @MRCPUK I have so many questions but mostly want to say that is remains unacceptable to treat the future of our profession in this way Resit + compensation asap
I know for a FACT that this is untrue @MRCPUK @RCPhysicians @RCP_RDC @RheumatologyUK One of the doctors affected works with me and has not heard from you at all. Sort it out. thefederation.uk/news/rheumatol…
