The BMA does not represent all doctors. This GP has first hand experience of the safe care PAs provide. Thank you to all doctors who continue to support PAs, and advocate for an evidenced based approach.
You have all have seen my post about my take on the PA situation (see thread linked). This is a first hand account in pulse from a PA colleague... pulsetoday.co.uk/views/guest-op…
1/n I want to say something about PAs. I don’t know yet if this will be long or short cause I am not psychic. What I do know is this: the situation has become a mess. Not just administratively. Not just professionally. But emotionally. And it’s going to leave scars.
Day 7 of asking @wesstreeting for my money back or funding to study medicine @rcgp the “leaders” in primary care confirmed support for the PA role over a 6 year period - PAs now face redundancy for trusting these “leaders”
Day 1 after @lengreview NHS Employers website still says PAs can see patients with undifferentiated diagnosis @wesstreeting I want my money back or financial support to study medicine “Join the NHS, you will have a job for life” “Further training gives you prospects” Lies
@wesstreeting Last week you limited the ability of Physician Associates to manage patients in need At the end of this week you will have no Resident Doctors to manage patients in need Are you ok?
Health and Social Care Secretary @WesStreeting responds to the BMA confirming Resident Doctor strikes will go ahead on Friday 👇
But to be fair, PAs who followed the rules and did everything right have been screwed by the GMC and RCP
What a lovely human
Hi. I am not here to cause any angst. Just wanted to say please do look after yourself. I can't imagine the pressure that you and the team must be under as are all PAs. And from someone who has been through stuff, it's okay to turn this platform off for a bit.
Day 6 of asking @wesstreeting for my money back or funding to study medicine Thousands in course fees RCP fees GMC fees @RCPhysicians logo was all over recruitment packs - they still charge £920 to assess a PAs ability to diagnose undifferentiated patients The lies continue.

Such a pleasant individual
PAs are a bit like crypto NFTs. Shiny, new and grandiose on the outside but in reality completely void of value or meaning. Anyone stupid enough to buy into them deserved to get ripped off.
Deal.
Agreed. If they can get an admission I think the government should incur the full cost of the ticket - tuition and maintenance.
Day 5 of asking @wesstreeting for my money back or funding to study medicine @wesstreeting you forgot to mention the PCN DES 25/26 contract when you were on the news ➡️PAs “provide first point of contact care for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems”

To all those calling out PAs for not realising that they were sold a dud, I would like to refer you to this. It was your organisation that supported PAs. Gave them a home. Legitimacy. And it is your organisation that you continue to support. Why aren't you boycotting them?
14/ Now I see Doctors celebrating like this is some long-awaited revenge. But it’s not a victory. It’s people losing their jobs. Being blamed for decisions they didn’t make. For believing organisations that you all continue to support. See the double standard?
@wesstreeting went on the news and said the assistants have been substituting for Drs - rewriting history to blame PAs, when thats what NHSE wanted Told Drs that PAs would help with the workload Told PAs to help with the workload they need to see undifferentiated patients 🤡🤡
I think PAs should have to sit the same entrance exams, go through the same interviews etc but they should receive some extra financial help with the course because they were obviously misled by the government and the NHS
I’ve seen some PAs ask if they can have their studies for medical school funded. Whilst I’m not sure about the actual costs of this (and that’s not for me to determine on) I don’t think this is something doctors should oppose on principle.
I do think there needs to be an inquiry into the poor decision making, planning and gaslighting of doctors who were ALL labeled bullies based on a few bad apples. Poor PAs wake up one morning not sure what their life is anymore - that should not be taken lightly
Was there any apology in the Leng report or from @wesstreeting To Drs and PAs? RCGP quickly came out to say no role, after pushing the role for many years. At least these “leaders” can still pay their own mortgages
FWIW? I agree- includes NHSE WTE; NHSE; RCP RCGP False promises and about turns ditching many others
