Some media reporting that the Philippines will "pay a 19% tariff". No, they won't. American purchasers of goods from the Philippines will pay the 19% tariffs. The burden falls on the buyers, not the sellers. Thank you for your attention blah blah blah
I'm so old I wrote that! That's assuming it's the Windows version, which is the one I worked on. The Win9x game, art, and original code, were done by Maxis/Cinematronics. I ported it to Windows NT, converted the x86 asm to C, made it work on RISC, and so on. Success has…
Are you this old?
MARRIED LIFE HACK: When your wife is upset with you tighten all the jars in the house.
The tarrif-bots don't realize that GM is a US company with 50 plants in the United States...
Build in the USA. Simple if you love America?
The Industrial Revolution improved everyone’s life, in the long run. But in the medium run, it caused the rise of communism, the murder of capitalists, and the advent of world war. Technological advance caused political chaos. Then again, would you prefer no electricity?
Goldman: Tariffs will "result in lower capex as businesses scale back equipment purchases in response to higher costs." Over the long run, this means "a declining capital stock and lower consumption per capita." Add in uncertainty, & it's a big hit to GDP:
Good fucking luck with that.

Serious question - then how are we supposed to hook up with them?
Ah, yes. @iowahawkblog makes a good point. One can't take @charliekirk11 seriously unless he becomes an electrician. Otherwise, he might as well be sociology major, for all the good he's doing.
True, but in fairness we need even fewer MAGAfluencers than sociology majors
In 1971 the price of gold in the USA was artificially set at $35/oz by the government, it was illegal to privately own gold outside of minor bits of jewelry, and if you had more than $100 worth you would have been sent to federal prison
I repeat: In 1971 the federal minimum wage was $1.60 per hour That’s 1.82 oz of gold per week in 40 hours Today that would translate to approx $150.00 per hour and $6000 That’s what they stole from Americans
Fire Mike Johnson.
Breaking News: Speaker Mike Johnson said he would shut down the House until September to block a vote on calling for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. nyti.ms/4nZtblR
I respect the sentiment but also I watched this on live television
No kid remembers their best day in front of the TV.
True, but in fairness we need even fewer MAGAfluencers than sociology majors
We need more electricians and less sociology majors.
I love the wisdom in old books, but when it comes to cooking, I’m incredibly biased towards modern takes. Older cookbooks either privilege highly processed ‘fancy’ components (canned whatever) or presume a vastly inferior selection of ingredients than can be found today.
I would love to read a general interest book about how pretty much every major world cuisine as we know it was completely reinvented over a period of 50-100 years in the wake of the Colombian exchange--chilis coming to India and China, tomatoes to Italy, etc. etc.
Imagine thinking it’s a win to wear your shoes as you’re put through a perp style xray search.
