If our choice is between Carney and Poilievre to defend Canada, we are doomed NDP needs to get a leader and get on the field
As Carney stumbles in negotiations with Trump, how should the Conservatives respond? Carney convinced the electorate that he was best positioned to handle Trump, and we’ll soon learn just how good a goalie he is. #Opinion trib.al/ARbYeqd
Great move by @UKLabour government! Younger voters mean different issues get advocates, and higher voter turnout and participation if high school classes learn about elections and go to vote together. In Canada they'd vote Tory, but... bbc.com/news/articles/…

Congrats to all the Amazon employees who worked so hard for union representation!
It's a #PrimeDay indeed! Big win as the B.C. Labour Board certifies Unifor at Amazon’s Delta facility after ruling the company interfered in the union drive. “Workers slayed the giant,” said @Lanampayne. Time to bargain a first contract. #canlab unifor.org/news/all-news/…
$100k entry fee is a solid test of fundraising and organizing ability. Remember: no one can give more than $1600 - which means to enter you need many people donating to your campaign - same as a federal election.
NDP leadership prospective details - Likely to choose a new leader March 2026, with the campaign starting Sept. - $100k entry fee for candidates cbc.ca/news/politics/…
Glad to see a sensible $100k entree fee for @ndp leadership race. Financing rules require candidates to fund raise the fee-a test of their organizing skill. And tough rules to keep Avi Lewis’s foreign foundation money out ndp.ca/news/ndp-membe…
The banker wants to fire doctors, nurses, and teachers
It’s time to spend less so we can invest more. Canada’s new government will spend less on government operations so we can invest more in Canada — to create high-paying careers, build up our country, and grow our economy. That’s the change Canadians deserve.
VANCOUVER 👏 NEEDS 👏 MORE 👏 HOTELS
It’s currently $300 a night to stay at Vancouver’s Motel 2400 on Kingsway or the Waldorf on East Hastings
By my math, that’s a 32% cut to program spending by year 3 ($76B/yr). That’s the cost of 184,000 family doctors - which Carney and co plan to cut from federal spending, including health spending
It's definitely time for a program review in Ottawa, but these are enormous numbers being floated out of Finance. The proposed spending reductions are equivalent to the huge cuts in the Chretien-Martin era and an order of magnitude greater than the Harper era spending cuts.

This makes me mad. Political violence in Canada is all to real-just ask frmr Premiers Notley, Wynn and Clark. And it’s reason many women and others don’t run for office. To political friends: stay safe today. We need to address this problem together. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

BC Conservatives view on building more housing in BC: "economic sabotage"

CANADA NEEDS to build up our military deterrence. But HARD NO on any sacrifices by working people to pay for this. The ultra-wealthy and highly profitable companies must pay–starting with raising their tax rates back to cold-war levels thestar.com/politics/polit…
The Chinese shipbuilding firm hired by @BCFerries build military vessels for use in the planned invasion of Taiwan. Not cool that we’re doing business with these folks.
I’m sorry? BC ferries is sending good-paying shipbuilding jobs to China!? Time to fire the BC Ferries CEO and board for this terrible decision

These nmbrs are wrong 1. The ultra-rich inflate the average. Median ($84k/household pretax in 2023) is much more accurate 2. Taxes are tiered-you can’t average them, and the average isn’t 43% If we raised taxes on the richest 1%, we could cut taxes for everyone else.
If Canadian children were taught this as early as elementary and throughout high school, I can't help but think they'd turn out to be more enterprising and democratically engaged citizens. We fail them by not doing so. Instead, schools nurture a juvenile, dependent view of…
This @VancouverSun story on BC public sector wages and hiring is comparing apples to ostriches. The story’s statistical gymnastics are impressive - though downright dishonest. Of note: the $75,000 in 2017 disclosure wage is now $94k with inflation.

The Liberal government is beginning its 4th term, history suggests a 5th is unlikely. Does the @NDP want to be a real choice for voters? Or do we want to stand on the sidelines staging protests under the office windows of the next winner? substack.com/inbox/post/165…
