So grateful to @RSAposts for the 2025 Animal Research and Ethics Committee Award! Not often do we get recognized for things that we believe in deep within our cores, so this one is really special! Especially at a time when animal research is under attack across 🌎 #RSA_ISBRA2025
Excited about our collaboration with @corticaljill @thermofisher and colleagues establishing volume electron microscopy approaches to map 3D synaptic nanoarchitecture in postmortem human prefrontal cortex in nanometer detail! @PittHealthSci @iScience_CP cell.com/iscience/fullt…
Our paper on opioid receptor regulation of mPFC inhibitory microcircuits is out as an early release jneurosci.org/content/early/… @allichonmc @mejoffe ! More to come on these systems in opioid dependence 🧠
Excited to see this @NIDAnews supported work led by @klbrida officially published! Kasey identified a marker of neurons that are responsive to the psychostimulant drug cocaine, and discovered that this marker is essential for cocaine reward. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
NGA for @Beccaaa_57 F31 arrived today! Very glad to see her work and potential recognized with support from @NIDAnews
So honored to have been 1 of the 50 recipients of this grant, which was instrumental in launching my career! In uncertain times, it’s reassuring to see Hello Bio stay committed to investing in and supporting the future. Grateful to be featured in this article—give it a read ⬇️

Glad to say that I’ve started my postdoc at @PittPsychiatry with the Joffe lab @mejoffe. Let the adventure begin 🧠
Dear science community, an amazing grad student with @DrJRink and I lost her belongings in an apartment fire this morning. She and her dog are safe but needs your help. Please consider donating @neuro_MUSC @charlestonarc @musc_cgs gofundme.com/f/kathy-needs-…
As expected, a large group of states have filed suit against the NIH and its acting director to block the across-the-board decreases in indirect cost rates announced on Friday, calling the NIH's actions "unlawful". storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
I am not normally an alarmist, but these are not normal times. This change would cripple research infrastructure at hundreds of US institutions, and threatens to end our global superiority in scientific research. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/n…
The 15% IDC proposal would kill jobs and innovation in ALL states: UNC, Wake Forest, MUSC, USC, Emory, Florida, UAB, Vanderbilt, St Jude’s, Kentucky, WVU, Marshall, U Cincinnati, OSU, Case Western, Michigan, UMN, Wash U, Iowa, Baylor, Texas, UNM, Arizona, etc
One issue is that biomedical science's major hubs are all in coastal blue state cities, unless you count Texas
A panorama standing from the Andy Warhol Bridge a few days ago in #Pittsburgh, when overnight snow covered the ice on the Allegheny River. The snow was so clean that morning and made for a kinda eerie scene as you can't even tell there's a river down there.
Well that was the sunrise of the year in #Pittsburgh this morning. The color stretched all across the horizon and high into the sky, reflecting in the icy Ohio River to make for an amazing scene. So many to share from today, but this one is definitely a favorite.
Another view from this morning in #Pittsburgh, this time looking down the Allegheny River towards the Clemente Bridge from the Andy Warhol Bridge. It's nearly completely covered in snow and ice from one end to the other, aside from a few pockets. Amazing to see.
Open technician position in my lab! This is a highly supportive and educational work environment. Please rt / apply! umb.taleo.net/careersection/…
Congrats to Ellen for starting off her rotation strong with her first cell! Go birds!

Congrats to postdoc Dakota Brockway for receiving the Akira Arimura Foundation Young Investigator Grant Award! Very proud of Dakota for designing this project and I'm excited to see where the research will lead
How about that snow in #Pittsburgh today?! I saw there was snow in the forecast, but I never expected it to be so picturesque. It stuck to every branch around the incline, which really stood out against the wall of snow blocking the city. Amazing to see scenes like this.
