Always choose the left side of the plane when landing in Chicago.

AI’s future isn’t just about code. It’s about the infrastructure that powers it. Nuclear, cooling, data centers, etc. Cities that understand the power, people, and purpose behind AI will lead. Here’s where Chicago fits into this: landonsloop.com/p/118
I have definitely been sleeping on Chicago. Incredibly cool city
The Midwest will be a major beneficiary of the new AI Action Plan from infrastructure to our workforce. We’re uniquely positioned for this moment.
The White House has released its AI Action Plan It covers over 90 federal policy actions including: • Expediting data center buildout • Removing onerous federal regulations • Exporting American AI products to allies
Indiana is becoming a hub for SMRs. New rules let utilities recover planning costs before reactors are even built. It’s a smart move and a win for the Midwest. Illinois should take note. We lead in nuclear and should double down. Nuclear = jobs, low energy costs, and growth.

Taiwan is a major trading partner for IL & what really stands out during my visit here is their amazing transit system. Trains are spotless, safe & EXACTLY on time. It’s efficient & trusted by millions every day. Chicago can get here. Reliable public transit should be a top…
90-seconds of footage from the Lake Michigan mansion retreat dm me to come on the next thanks to a16z @speedrun, @kamjamshidian, and @asylumventures 📸@JohnVFXofficial
Powering AI in the Heartland: a discussion about how the Midwest can lead the next wave of AI infra from energy and data centers to public-private partnerships. Thank you to our world-class panelists: @SueRezin @gilbert36ward @Vegim @wandzilak_drew @MadiHilly

Watching the Lionesses of Nuclear (@MadiHilly and @SenatorRezin) breakdown repealing the Illinois nuclear moratorium.
Saying Au Cheval is your favorite Chicago burger in 2025 is a red flag
Midwest = 2050 climate refuge
The Midwest will rise again. As climate events become more frequent out west with wildfires and heat and in the south with wet bulb temps and hurricanes, the Midwest (and particularly the Rust Belt) stands to gain the most from reverse migration.
One more day until Chicago’s biggest week. We’re hosting 4 events at @drivecapital: ☢️ Powering AI in the Heartland 🎉 TechPalooza 🏥 AI Agents in Healthcare Symposium 🌱 Pre-Seed Between the Coasts See the full lineup in landonsloop.com
Chicago of 3–4M 👥, leading in Midwest urbanization & US reindustrialization, attracting new talent & development, purged of waste, corruption & incompetence, S/W Sides alive & freed from crime are all possible. Chicago has great assets. But it requires our work, buy-in & focus.
Anyone who’s lived in Chicago since at least the 1990s and early 2000s (or earlier) would be hard-pressed to deny that Chicago holds less nat’l and int’l relevance today than it did two or three decades ago. Poor leadership and failure to keep pace with other cities. A sad truth.
LMAO @susanamendoza10 claps back at @ChicagosMayor comment about her. “He’s shown there’s not a lot on his mind.” She’s spicy.
Mayor Brandon Johnson responds to Susana Mendoza possibly challenging him in 2027: “As far as whether or not I think much about her candidacy, I don't think much about her candidacy. She tried this already and apparently Chicagoans didn’t think too much of her candidacy either”
I’m so impressed with the hundreds of side events happening next week during TechChicago Week. Decentralized meetups are an important sign of a growing startup hub. We’re hosting three of our own at @drivecapital. Read about them here: start-midwest.com/news/headed-to…
“Startup communities thrive on mentorship freely given.” That was the theme of yesterday’s fireside with @bfeld at @drive_capital Brad’s an OG: 90s tech investor, co-founded @techstars and wrote many best sellers We covered startup war stories and his new book Give First
