Rationalizing rather than recognizing Chicago’s problems is one of the contributing factors to its continued decay. Chicago is a beautiful city, with enormous potential, but also with fundamental problems.
Alderman David Moore of the 17th Ward is having some prostitution issues in his ward… but word is, this is really his prostitution issue. The last time he was confronted, he was hit and she ( different person) was arrested. But the charges were dropped once it started to look…
I thought the ugly new @USPS vans were electric. What’s the point of this then?!
OH MY GOSH I JUST SPOTTED ONE OF THEM
This is a leadership problem. @AldermanHopkins and @ChicagosMayor should steward new developments from proposal through to completion. What sort of message does this send to anyone looking to invest here? “Chicago: buyer beware.”
NIMBYs in Chicago fighting against a proposed 36 story tower are legitimately fighting to preserve… a gas station. You can’t make this up
This is what it looks when we prioritize criminals over ordinary law-abiding citizens.
Us having to deal with this is a choice made by people that hate you.
Plain and simple...Chicago does NOT have a revenue problem. It has a SPENDING problem. To lay it out flatly, Chicagoans CANNOT afford ANYMORE taxes. NO MORE TAXES.
Chicago CFO Jill Jaworski yesterday told Bloomberg News that the city "will likely seek to raise property taxes" in next year’s budget to address a looming deficit and help close the gap in the 2026 budget package. Raising property taxes before the mayor election?! Yikes
Chicago is going up, but Covid really delivered a blow to the Loop. Big financial issues. Civic leadership has never been less effective. It's declined in stature relative to the coastal metros. But also probably the best price/performance for urbanism in America - a place I'd…
Is chicago on the up, decline, or stagnant?
Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are two cities with amazing assets that for some reason have not really grown. Questionable whether Cincy insiders, in a hyper-parochial cities, want the civic disruption growth would bring. Phenomenal neighborhoods though.
Thoughts on Cincinnati as well as Dayton? How does the future look with the proximity to faster growing metros of Columbus and Indy?
Urbanization is a centuries-long trend unlikely to reverse anytime soon. Combined with declining birth rates, small towns in the U.S.—like those in Italy and Japan—have no future.
At some point these quaint towns in Pennsylvania are going to be boom towns. -They are beautiful -Many well built houses -Will become more affordable than the sunbelt… eventually -Everyone wasn’t meant to live with the sunbelt’s weather

Chicago needs to automate CTA trains. Then make ‘em shorter and have them come more often. Labor? They’ve been having trouble getting people to at CTA period, so why not automate and improve service too?
💯
Chicago bottomed in 2024. If Chicago were a chart, I'd be going all-in. Went for a scooter ride along the South shore. Miles of untapped potential. North side residents would be jealous of these parks. Socialism is getting the boot in 2027. It's only up from here!
🚅🤯 Good leaders are worldly. See, experience, learn what works abroad, then bringing it home. Example: @susanamendoza10 getting train-pilled in Taiwan before obvious run for @ChicagosMayor. This is an excellent development.
Taiwan is a major trading partner for IL & what really stands out during my visit here is their amazing transit system. Trains are spotless, safe & EXACTLY on time. It’s efficient & trusted by millions every day. Chicago can get here. Reliable public transit should be a top…
I thought we were done with this!
Return of the flash mobs? A group of masked thieves raided the Louis Vuitton store on the Magnificent Mile yesterday, stealing $150K in handbags, per an initial estimate. It’s the type of crime that was common just a couple of years ago. cwbchicago.com/2025/07/flash-…
🙅♂️ Brandon Johnson wants to RAISE PROPERTY TAXES to pay for $1B in overspending. NO! NO! NO! @ChicagosMayor
This will be popular…
You just have to travel outside the US to find your cathedrals to air travel.
I hate how old train stations were cathedrals to prosperity and airports now are just the dingy bus stations of the sky
