Disability Justice in the UK.
'Those with fluctuating or less visible conditions and in particular, those with mental health conditions, found it harder to access support and often presented with a greater number of unmet needs'. In 'conclusion', 2023 doc gov.uk/government/pub…
If you enjoyed Ramping Up Rights it’d mean a lot if you left me an Amazon review* so that we can get recommended to more people, at a time when disability rights history is needed more than ever (and I can afford to buy rusty more treats 😂) amzn.eu/d/6l6sWQE
The CSJ had it done and ready to go a long time ago. All Timms has to do is pretend to listen to disabled people and rubber stamp it. Ka-ching
How the hell has Timms written his review in less than 3 weeks?
If in Wales please consider supporting the Environment (Principles, Governance and Biodiversity Targets) Bill,a chance to put the protection of nature into law and have the same footing as climate change. Via the RSPB you can email your MS and add support action.rspb.org.uk/page/172649/ac…
It's democide. People can't live on £4k a year. It's simply not doable. Labour cut schemes that help disabled people get back into work. The jobs aren’t there. Disabled people face far more barriers to employment than non disabled people. So what are they supposed to do,just die?
Ok while I have the far right’s attention, let me post this again. 103 Far Right sex offenders, including: -the paedophile Tommy Robinson founded the EDL with (Richard Price) and -the EDL and BNP sex offender who who MURDERED 15 year old Paige Chivers (Robert Ewing) 1/
The EU’s “Going Dark” group is pushing for mass surveillance. This secretive initiative wants to: - Store your calls, texts, and online activity without suspicion - Break encryption, making your private chats accessible - Force phone and car makers to build surveillance into…
You'd be hard pressed to find a better example of what happens when prejudices replace politics & corporate media grooming, social media tropes & conspiracy theories replace analysis, than taking a look at the comments under this post.
Labour cucks are criticising Corbyn and Sultana for the most obscure things because this new party showcases the utter lack of principle the Labour Party operates under. Since they pretend to be the Good Guys, any actual good guys make them look ridiculous. It’s so pathetic.
Kemi Badenoch earns £96,000 a year as an MP. She lives with her multimillionaire banker husband in Wimbledon. Kemi claims £36,400 a year for rent & council tax for a second home in Essex. Kemi doesn’t believe that junior doctors are worth £22 an hour. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Labour Party traditionally tolerated people like Corbyn and Sultana because it was oligarchy's key method of absorbing, then neutralising, a genuinely liberatory left They did it so exactly this kind of left party wouldn't happen. Starmer's authoritarianism has messed it all up
I really really really hope Corbyn is not about to start a new party organised by a man who is currently married to Keir Starmer’s Director of Communications. I really really hope that is not what is going to happen.
Today’s Hall of Shame (non-politician edition) 👇
On today’s Hall of Shame (non-politician edition) is Reem Ibrahim - a commentator who regularly appears in the media and is a “scholar” at the right-wing think tank the Institute of Economic Affairs. She regularly shares harmful rhetoric about disabled people on Motability and…
Sorry to say, some of Green Party Deputy leader candidates come across as LibDems on bikes, likely to be seduced by power & privilege if they made it to Westminster in due course. Too excited about their careers & not angry enough about inequality & *genocide* ffs
they are bad but I don't think they are targeting Wikipedia deliberately, they (and Yvette Cooper specifically) are extremely stupid people & every single bit of legislation so far has been carelessly drafted. They are here by accident.
There's a clear reason why they're targeting Wikipedia. It's one of the last bastions of the promise the web once held to be a great equaliser, putting easy access to information in the hands of the masses, and there's nothing those in power fear more than an informed public.
Malnutrition, defined by both muscle wasting and nutrient deficiencies, is as common in people with obesity as in those who are underweight. Malnutrition with use of GLP-1 agonists is an underestimated real world harm, writes @ellenfallows bmj.com/content/390/bm…
In the last week disabled people have had to beg for their own humanity, to plead for compassion and understanding when we rely on services to keep us alive, and now we are having to argue with people saying that people like us should just be stopped from being able to exist
Another utter failure.
A nearby resident at the Britannia Hotel protest told me that with school holidays starting, locals are “very worried” to let their children out on the street. He also told me he was on the housing waiting list for 11 years. “It’s just not on” that asylum seekers get free housing
