Burgum is trying to spin a law that will ⬆️ Americans energy bills and ⬇️ our ability to compete with China and grow the economy.
BURGUM will address House Republicans during their 9am conference meeting - @SiegelScribe scoops He is walking into an Epstein-fueled crisis and many ANGRY House Rs > politico.com/live-updates/2…

The reaction one has when you swallow the WH press release but don’t actually understand what the Trump Admin is doing …
The Trump White House is explicitly signaling its alignment with the abundance movement. When it comes to energy, seems like there’s very little difference between MAGA prescriptions and Thompson/Yglesias prescriptions. Profoundly horrible.
🚨🚨Electricity prices hit record high in PJM operator of the largest electricity market in the US. Failure of the operator to sufficiently plan is big problem. Harbinger of future for US. @GovernorShapiro and @GovWesMoore leading the fight to fix it. ft.com/content/f1bcd6…
Nuclear is a key part of @MikieSherril plan for reliable energy in NJ. Our @ThirdWayEnergy team is ready to help!
Third, we need a reliable source of electricity generation that can meet our state’s need for decades to come – and that’s nuclear power. I’ll work with neighboring states to harness economies of scale and expand safe nuclear power capacity in New Jersey at a low cost, which will…
Infuriating how much @wmata has fucked up the “Better Bus” overhaul. Much longer routes, less direct, less frequent. Just wait to DC schools return and kids find out there’s no more direct bus routes. wjla.com/news/local/met…
China dominating clean tech, +10% of its GDP and 1.5% of global emissions ⬇️. A massive own goal by the US. Both countries saw this future. 🇨🇳 seized it, 🇺🇸 was paralyzed by partisan BS and interest group politics. We’re gonna pay economically and geopolitically for this failure.

Ummm so let me get this straight: Republicans have ground Congress to a halt and are considering adjourning the entire House for 6 weeks to avoid releasing the info they have on Epstein? What is going on here?
NEWS - House Rules Committee isn’t returning AT ALL tonight and likely not AT ALL THIS week amid Epstein + other issues, per sources Scalise confirms to me it’s “not likely” Rules return - meaning House would leave without advancing immigration and several other bills
While the immigrants who helped develop the US space program Miller refers to weren’t “illegal,” hundreds of them were in fact former Nazis, including several war criminals. airandspace.si.edu/stories/editor…
MILLER: If you look at photos of the Empire State Building being built, you don’t see any illegal aliens. When you look at the photos of the NASA control room during the moon landing, you don’t see any illegal aliens. Americans built, sustained, and powered this country for two…
The US govt is at its best when it stands for the interest of the American people as balance vs the power of wealthy individuals and companies. EPA scientists are on the frontline of this effort. We and our country will be worse off for this stupid, self-inflicted wound.
Breaking News: The EPA said it would eliminate its scientific research arm and begin firing hundreds of scientists, after denying that it intended to do so. nyti.ms/4500xIU
Hot take: If ya can’t appreciate time in a place that does things different than you’re used to, that’s on you, not them.
Hot take: Europe is a bunch of third-world countries with better branding. No A/C. No dryers. Ice is a luxury. You’ll sweat through dinner while the waiter ignores you for 2 hours. Say what you want about America, but at least eating out doesn’t feel like hot yoga with bread.
This by @lxeagle17 is so important. People are repelled by the “save the planet” call to action, especially when paired with “transformation” that requires you to spend💰 to rip out your gas appliances, buy an EV, let a utility control your electricity use.
We're not in 2005 any longer. The clean energy technologies available to us are just so much better. For instance, half of the commentariat seems to think that "solar power" = an energy system useless after sunset. Meanwhile, consumers know battery storage has changed the game.
Excellent 🧵 by @RobertBoswall on the challenges of solar and win in 🇬🇧 tl;dr geography, learning, modularization, and size matter. Distills the challenge U.K. faces.
1. Wind and solar both keep me up at night, but for opposite reasons. Solar works and is winning the global race, Britain simply sits too far north to benefit. Britain is betting on wind instead, yet wind lacks the very traits that makes solar work.
This is very important work by my colleague @ShaneLondagin from @ThirdWayEnergy and friends Luke Bassett, @azevin and @JesseJenkins that breaks down how the Big Awful Bill breaks down US energy policy.
Confused by all of changes to federal energy law after the OBBBA? We have a handy-dandy cheat sheet that breaks it all down for you, courtesy of @ShaneLondagin, Luke Bassett, @azevin, and researchers at @JesseJenkins’ REPEAT Project. heatmap.news/politics/obbba…
It’s true that fossil fuels have enabled an insane level of development, but we now have better options. These options need less destructive mining, reduce air pollution, and mitigate climate change. It’s just human progress.
.@SecretaryWright tells it like it is: Climate change is a by-product of human progress—not an existential threat. We do not apologize for American energy; it is the foundation of EVERYTHING! economist.com/by-invitation/…
We are standing firm. The EU just approved one of its strongest sanctions package against Russia to date. We’re cutting the Kremlin’s war budget further, going after 105 more shadow fleet ships, their enablers, and limiting Russian banks’ access to funding. (1/3)
No mention of batteries, nuclear power, US inability to build transmission. And in his world China’s success doesn’t exist. Merely a treatise on how we must stop energy progress … to defend human progress. Even with my low expectations Chris Wright has been a disappointment.
“Yes, atmospheric CO2 has increased over time—but so has life expectancy,” writes Chris Wright. In a guest essay America’s energy secretary invites the world to rethink renewable energy econ.st/4kCU2kY Illustration: Dan Williams
Do you like your iPhone? Your laptop? NIH/NSF/DOD-funded basic liquid crystal research is why we have LCD screens. DOE-funded basic research for electrochemistry and thin film metallic multilayers is why we have lithium-ion batteries and hard drives.
He’s got a funny way of showing it.
