Human emissions are trapping the equivalent of 980,000 Hiroshima bombs worth of energy into the Earth system every day. Where is the outrage from the media and public to stop this suicidal madness?
As of the latest CERES data for May, 2025, the 36-month running mean for the Earth energy imbalance grew slightly to 11.36 Hiroshimas per second. That's roughly 980,000 Hiroshimas per day in planetary warming. Hot times ahead!
On holiday in Cumberland in 1921,Dora Carrington painted two pictures of Watendlath Farm: a view of the moorlands behind the farmhouse, now at the Tate Gallery, London; and this painting which has the same stone-walled field and the three transfixed sheep in the foreground.

I'm as excited as anyone else about the Lionesses but why have a foreign mammal for a nickname?Lions are natives of Africa and Asia. Shouldn't we have something local? My suggestions: The Wildcats, The Edible Dormice, The Harbour Seals, The Parti-Coloured Bats. #Lionesses
Europe is burning much faster in 2025: 237,153 ha already scorched — nearly double last year! 1,250 wildfires — up from 861 in 2024 8.24 Mt CO₂ emitted — a major climate feedback Climate action isn’t optional. It’s urgent. #Wildfires #ClimateCrisis #EUfires

The World's Tallest and Longest hedge is the Meikleour beech hedge in Perthshire. It is one third of a mile long and 98ft high. It was planted in 1745 and local legend says the hedge grows towards the heavens because the men who planted it were killed at the Battle of Culloden.
This man sows hate, lies and division. He is a grifter and a conman. He does not represent the vast majority of Britons. RT if you agree #FarageRiots
This is what the beginning of the end of the world looks like.

RIP Tom Lehrer. “I often feel like a resident of Pompeii who has been asked for some humorous comments on lava”.
Well that's odd. 24 hours ago The Westmorland Gazette posted a story about swimmers getting sick while taking part in the Great North Swim on Windermere. Apparently sewage was being dumped into the lake at the time. 1 day later the article has disappeared from their website.…

Lovely. First visited St Ives aged two.
Helen McNichol painted 'An English Beach,' (c1905) at St Ives on the west coast of Cornwall - there is enough of a sea haze to hide the cliffs on the right-hand side of the cove; a picture that suggests long summer holidays.
My musical tribute to Dame Cleo Laine who has died at the age of 97. Such a great jazz singer. But not only jazz. Pop, classical, she did it all. I remember her performing He Was Beautiful (Cavatina) with classical guitarist John Williams. Beautiful.
Extreme marine heat recorded since 2023 might herald the start of a regime shift in the world’s oceans that poses a grave threat to life on Earth, scientists have warned. newscientist.com/article/248959…
