It’s official in our covenant with the Lord, legal in the eyes of the law, and now gets the @POLITICOEurope imprimatur! Thank you to everyone for such lovely messages! I highly recommend meeting your soulmate and living happily ever after!

It isn't 'racist' to object to migrant hotels, not least when there is no consultation or forewarning. This is not a race issue, but one of politicians imposing an insane policy which brazenly exploits the generosity of the British public, and people deciding they've had enough.
Treasury goblin celebrates his 'win'; a policy that is driving farming families into penury and even suicide. Telling that HMRC views this as a real victory; as we know they advised several Chancellors to screw over family farms, only Reeves was cruel and stupid enough to say yes
James Mee of @HMRCgovuk has won an award for his work on the family business inheritance tax disaster. Might be well worth giving him some feedback, you could well be the first private sector business owner he’s ever spoken too… linkedin.com/posts/james-me…

Sadly, @alexburghart’s warnings from last week are becoming more prescient. I think I’m right in saying he was the first mainstream politician to talk about this; good to see that Farage followed his lead. Others should watch Burghart’s speech to @ukonward x.com/jamespriceglos…
Barely anyone in SW1 insider class (politicians / ‘hacks’ etc) understands the rising anger in (mainly but not only) England. Obsessed with reshuffles, speeches blah blah - but reality is a hot August is not looking good. Urgent action is needed - but instead all going on holiday
In Europe, thousands are being convicted for the crime of criticizing their own governments. This Orwellian message won't fool the United States. Censorship is not freedom.

Congratulations to the main speaker of the inaugural James Dinner held last year, @JamesCleverly, on his return to the front bench for the Tories! I rashly over-criticised Cleverly's IPPR speech last week. Whilst it was widely reported that he was less than radical on Whitehall…
Huge thank you to @jamespriceglos for organising this wonderfully silly event. Thank you to every James/Jamie in the room for raising funds for @CR_UK
*Everyone* should have *something* to say about Alfred the Great, history degree or no
I did a history degree and have literally zero to say about Alfred the Great
Ed Argar was among the best and smartest ministers I worked with in Government. He was a champion throughout Covid, tackling a huge brief and adding to it with endless morning rounds and more. He then had a hospital pass of the prisons brief and did a great job given with what…
As he prepares for his last parliamentary oral questions from the front bench, I want to put on record my sincere thanks to Ed Argar for serving in my Shadow Cabinet. I wish him the very best for a speedy recovery and return to full health, and so I will be making a few changes…

As Ofsted Chief Inspector I was often accused of being Islamophobic for talking about some tough issues in education and children’s social care that absolutely do need to be discussed openly and honestly. I share others’ concerns about the plan to create and embed a definition.
Those acts are already illegal under existing religious hate crime laws. People have *already* been sentenced for those crimes (I will link below.) I asked the Minister leading on this work to send me examples of anti-Muslim hate incidents which were not covered by existing law.…
'Why have a rule for this for the Muslim faith, when you don't have one for any other faith, including Christianity?' 'Christians aren't going around threatening violence if their god is mocked...' Stephen Dixon and James Price discuss Labour's proposed Islamophobia law.
As I said last week at @ukonward, we are closer the cliff edge than the Govt will admit 🔴 Labour are borrowing too much 🔴 The cost of borrowing is too high 🔴 They have lost control of their backbenchers so cannot cut costs
