Shadow Energy Secretary & Shadow Minister for Equalities & Conservative Member of Parliament for East Surrey elected in 2019.
No more fish discos. Backed by @BritainRemade & @lfg_uk, today I’ve set out radical plans to speed up and cut the cost of building the new nuclear power stations we need for our economy, for our energy security and for nature. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/1…
This is insane. An official said “The AI agenda would be way more advanced if it wasn’t for Miliband’s focus on net zero.” We cannot block one of our most important growth sectors in the name of Net Zero. Energy policy must fit what the country needs, not the other way around.

Labour have cut funding for Tell MAMA - a widely respected independent anti-Muslim hatred charity which the Conservatives funded for years - whilst giving £1 million to the British Muslim Trust to do similar work. Why? The founder of Tell MAMA opposes the divisive Islamophobia…

As Ofsted Chief Inspector I was often accused of being Islamophobic for talking about some tough issues in education and children’s social care that absolutely do need to be discussed openly and honestly. I share others’ concerns about the plan to create and embed a definition.
Those acts are already illegal under existing religious hate crime laws. People have *already* been sentenced for those crimes (I will link below.) I asked the Minister leading on this work to send me examples of anti-Muslim hate incidents which were not covered by existing law.…
Labour turned the sewage crisis into political theatre. But as suspected, it turns out they didn’t have a plan - and they’ve decided to use ours instead. 🧵A thread
Labour will halve sewage pollution by water companies by the end of the decade. bbc.com/news/articles/…
Ed Miliband’s wind auction is 8 MONTHS LATE. And now it looks like he will start it in recess so he doesn’t have to face questions in Parliament. Why? Because he knows it will prove that his promise to cut your bills by £300 was a lie. Here’s why👇🏾
We should legislate our way to new nuclear, bypassing un-necessary regulation Example: the @iamkepco APR1400 has now been built in two countries with four reactors in each On time and on budget at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives It has been granted regulatory…
There is no low-cost, high-growth energy system without a lot more nuclear. We just need politicians who are brave enough to change the law to deliver it. @Sam_Dumitriu @s8mb @sjarichards @pursuitofprog @RichardOllingtn
With a name like "Great British Energy" you'd think they were doing something cool like building a Thorium reactor, but they're just putting slave-made Chinese solar panels on a school roof, where they will generate bugger all energy when we need it (in the Great British Winter)
Great ‘British’ Energy. What a con. No wonder Labour voted against amendments to stop them buying kit made with Chinese slave labour.
'Great British Energy solar panels' were made in China bbc.in/4eUuqP8
I gave a speech today in an empty chamber. It’s about the need for a Christian restoration.
We all want energy that’s cheap, reliable, and clean — and nuclear could deliver all three. But Britain pays more to build nuclear power stations than almost anywhere else in the world. Why? Bureaucracy and legal blockages. Here’s what’s going wrong— and how we would fix it 🧵
We need nuclear power, not fish discos. SIGN OUR PETITION backing amendments to the Planning Bill which: Exempt new nuclear projects from outdated red tape Curb activist legal challenges Stop petty rules from holding back vital national infrastructure
Our self-defeating, sclerotic system of environmental regulation is nature’s own worst enemy. Nuclear uses 3,000 times LESS land than wind farms to produce the same amount of energy.
I call bullshit. You’ve spent the last 48 hours calling me a ‘traitor’ for not drawing attention to a leaked spreadsheet with our special forces and MI6 officers’ names on. But we’re meant to believe this tweet attacking me as a traitor for having a Jewish wife & family was…
One of the team who post to my X account accidentally pressed like on an awful antisemitic tweet earlier today. I apologise for this. The post also refers to “brown savages”, and is equally racist against me. Clearly it was not intentional. The amount of antisemitism and…
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of nuclear power. In Government, the Conservatives ended a 30-year moratorium on new nuclear, with two new plants consented, a third agreed and a fleet of next generation small reactors on the way. Whilst Labour are paying lip-service to continuing…

Habitats Regulations, Environmental Impact Assessments, & repeated judicial reviews have helped make nuclear power stations more expensive in Britain than anywhere else. This amendment could prove a significant test of whether the Government is serious about getting stuff built.

It's time we prioritise nationwide economic and environmental benefits by unleashing the power of the atom.

Plain good sense from @ClaireCoutinho Example: Sizewell C is an exact copy of Hinkley Point C at a site adjacent to and therefore almost identical to Sizewell A and B Yet there were over 40,000 pages of environmental statements related to its permitting process How? Why? It…
