@JamesCleverly
Member of Parliament for Braintree. Promoted by James Cleverly at Office 207, Lakes Industrial Park, Braintree, Essex CM7 3AN
This drop is because of the visa rule changes that I put in place. Labour will try to claim credit for these figures but they criticised me at the time, and have failed to fully implement the changes. #immigration
Long-term net migration is down by almost 50%. The number of people immigrating long-term minus the number of people emigrating long-term is provisionally estimated to be 431,000 in year ending December 2024 compared with 860,000 a year earlier. ➡️ ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulati…
“I was furious, I genuinely couldn't believe he said...[that] there are plenty of houses around the UK for asylum seekers.” New shadow housing secretary @JamesCleverly says it's "toxic" the PM is "more interested" in accommodation for asylum seekers than young British workers.
Work brings dignity. But Labour’s new Employment Rights Bill creates UNemployment. When you load £5 billion in new costs onto employers, you destroy opportunity.
When the government sides with those who break the rules over those who follow them, don’t be surprised when public anger boils over. The Prime Minister’s out-of-touch remarks show exactly why trust is collapsing. 🔵 @JamesCleverly setting it out on @BBCBreakfast 📺
On the day of his comeback, am told that a group of Palestine protestors on the Terrace started chanting about David Lammy, prompting new Shad Housing Sec James Cleverly to shout back “He’s the other black one!”
Economics 101: people respond the incentives (and disincentives). Reeves’ tax raises are bringing in less tax, costing jobs, and dissuading investment. Labour’s economic incompetence is damaging the UK economy.

Seeing job losses is horrible, but we did warn that Labour’s increased employment taxes would cost jobs in the hospitality sector.
🚨| BREAKING: BrewDog is closing 10 bars across the UK, with staff reportedly given "three days' notice". Unite Hospitality: "In what universe is 3 DAYS a morally (or legally) acceptable notice period for a proper redundancy consultation for the workers impacted?!"
When taking a position of leadership the question one should ask oneself is “do I want to be something, or do I want to do something?” It’s increasingly clear that Starmer wanted to job title, not the job. The country deserves better.
Starmer says at the Liaison Committee that the best thing about his first year in government was "walking into Downing Street," which says something about what happened afterwards.
Labour’s immoral family farm tax is destroying livelihoods and will wipe out generations of hard work. When the @Conservatives return to government, we will reverse it. No ifs, no buts. Standing up for our farmers is standing up for Britain.
Starmer is clueless or dishonest. (Possibly both)
Keir Starmer tells MPs that many councils have 'lots of housing' that could be used to accommodate asylum seekers. Asked if he can provide any examples, he replies: 'No'
Starmer promised no new taxes on working people. Then taxed farmers and small business owners, and all workers through employer NI. He's literally biting the hand that feeds him. Here's how Labour is risking the food on your table 🧵👇
Labour turned the sewage crisis into political theatre. But as suspected, it turns out they didn’t have a plan - and they’ve decided to use ours instead. 🧵A thread
Labour will halve sewage pollution by water companies by the end of the decade. bbc.com/news/articles/…
He really is all over the place. He’s advocating state seizure of private assets, but thinks that will encourage private investment. Wants the state to intervene, but not run the businesses. And doesn’t have even a ballpark figure for the costs!
"So you don't know how much it would be in any ballpark?" #BBCLauraK asks Reform UK leader Nigel Farage about his proposals to nationalise 50% of the water industry "Of course not" replies Farage but says "it doesn't need to be a big sum of money" bbc.in/44WXpgI
Reform will say anything to get elected. People vote Reform in good faith, but they’ll be let down.

I call bullshit. You’ve spent the last 48 hours calling me a ‘traitor’ for not drawing attention to a leaked spreadsheet with our special forces and MI6 officers’ names on. But we’re meant to believe this tweet attacking me as a traitor for having a Jewish wife & family was…
One of the team who post to my X account accidentally pressed like on an awful antisemitic tweet earlier today. I apologise for this. The post also refers to “brown savages”, and is equally racist against me. Clearly it was not intentional. The amount of antisemitism and…

If Labour think you’re old enough to vote at 16 do they also think you’re old enough to stand for election at 16? If not, why not? If yes, and the 16 year old becomes an MP, how will they fit in their studies? Remember they can’t leave education until they’re 18.
Are Labour saying: Children should have the right to vote. Or 16 year olds are no longer children. Either answer opens a can of worms with regards to other rights and responsibilities for 16 and 17 year olds.
