Train for a marathon 12-15 hours per week for 15 weeks. Zero illness. Taper for one week and you get sick. Every. Single. time.
If you’ve ever had a completely bonkers schedule then finally got a break & got sick after a few days of rest, congratulations: You learned that cortisol enhances immune system function in the short term. Taper(!) from intense to vacation. Keep your mornings active.
