Look guys, we just need more slick TikToks and to shout more about antitrust It's gonna work guys, I promise
WSJ poll: The Democratic Party’s image has hit its lowest point in over 30 years. Just 33% favorable, 63% unfavorable. What do you think is the main reason?
Well, there goes that narrative
A new paper finds that when large investors buy up single-family homes in the suburbs, rents in the area fall, along with levels of class/racial segregation
My unpopular opinion is we should significantly raise the salaries of congressional staff and members of Congress so they don’t just ditch to go work for industry and get paid five fold.
It’s truly nuts how we flew headlong into a world of ubiquitous app-based sports gambling with almost no debate or consideration.
"Voters also preferred the GOP on nearly every issue polled" So far, I don't see progressives reckoning with this AT ALL. They think if they can get a guy like Mamdani to do some good TikToks and just wait for Trump to fuck up enough, America will embrace progressive ideology.
Even as public opinion on immigration has moved left, voters still trust Republicans to handle the issue better than Democrats, by a 17-point margin, according to a new WSJ poll. Voters also preferred the GOP on nearly every other issue polled
This was prompted by people calling the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad “Nazi propaganda” and I cannot emphasize this enough: if, for Twitter clout, you pretend cool, attractive women are aping Nazi aesthetics, you are only going to create more young men who self-ID as Nazis.
I am currently shopping for a larger more expensive home, but the total lack of inventory is making it impossible for me to free up my small cheap home. This is a real problem!
New housing is expensive and not affordable to the poor. But the people who can afford to live in the new building vacate their old home, which is affordable. The affordability benefits of new housing are indirect.
I, for one, would like to win some federal majorities again sometime soon so we should probably try adopting policy positions voters actually agree with instead of not doing that
DEMOCRATIC PARTY FAVORABILITY FALLS TO LOWEST LEVEL IN 35 YEARS — WSJ
Also the human compulsion to admit/brag about your crimes is one of the most powerful forces in the universe
64% of Americans:
Would you prefer a president that is a man or a woman 🧍♂️Man 27% 🧍♀️ Woman 9% YouGov
Might the concept of deep alliances actually being a strength for a democratic(-ish) republic in a world full of authoritarian enemies be just as relevant today as it was 2000+ years ago? No probably not that sounds crazy.
Can't stop thinking about the "Goku Model of Imperialism"
funny bit of the modern internet is that the best way to get engagement is to phrase dominant conventional wisdom (young people like cities, people move to the suburbs when they have kids) as subversive hidden truths; you see it everywhere nowadays
Another quietly subversive paper. Urbanists are often young and childless — this is a unique demographic most interested in city centers Even in Copenhagen, people move to the city when young, but move out to suburbs when they get married/have kids, and don't move back
Biden actually made a lot of progress towards miraculous cancer cures and then Trump cut the funding to cancer research
Whatever happened to Biden curing cancer?
Logically this makes no sense. On the other hand, Trump dangled a pardon for Paul Manafort in a successful effort to obstruct the Russia inquiry and persuaded the media to cover the fruits of obstruction as exonerating him.
My brain is too pea sized to comprehend this. How does giving Ghislaine Maxwell a pardon end up working out well for Trump? Like what are the steps towards this benefiting him?
It’s truly nuts how we flew headlong into a world of ubiquitous app-based sports gambling with almost no debate or consideration.
Gambling addiction is a slow and quiet killer. You know if someone close to you drinks too much. You don't know if they have a gambling problem. People are embarrassed by their losses. Suicide from gambling debts is rarely directly associated with online sports betting. 12/n
Some people think YIMBYs are insane alien bug people who have no idea what regular people want. Meanwhile critics of YIMBYism are like "moving into a nicer home? ridiculous. nobody would ever do that"
people LOVE paying higher rents. it’s just common sense! show them this picture!!
The worst free speech administration of my lifetime and it’s not close
Trump's FCC Chair says he will put a "bias monitor" in place who will "report directly" to Trump as part of the deal for Sky Dance to acquire CBS

just deeply disappointing to see More Perfect Union blatantly lying that building more market rate housing *causes* homelessness instead of preventing it. Austin is one of the few places in America where rents actually *fell* because it built so much housing!
Billionaires like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are trying to destroy affordable housing in Austin and replace it with luxury condos. In a city where evictions are at record highs and homelessness is skyrocketing, residents have had enough. Now, they're fighting back.
