Do follow @leith1076 DWP Spin Decoder, who is doing a great job of unearthing tweets posted by Labour MPs whilst in opposition. It is hard to believe how hypocritical many of them have turned out to be. They should hang their heads in shame.
If I was rich, I’d set up a non-profit delivery service that brings food, essentials, prescriptions, any other essentials disabled people need, to their doors and also be there to chat with them if needed. The delivery costs should be free. The couriers would be volunteers and…
The Universal Credit Bill has passed. The Motion of Regret did not. I am heartbroken. We got powerful truths spoken in the Lords which may help later in legal and public fights. But.... What is this thing called Labour. Not something I morally recognise Love to all x
I think ppl think that #unpaidcarers and disabled ppl are exaggerating when we say that lack of support and neglect will result in lives lost. But this is how isolated disabled ppl and unpaid carers can become with horrific & shameful consequences.
Terrible indictment of our times. A very ill mum died despite phoning an ambulance & her daughter with Downs died probably through starvation. They were not found for months. Not a tragic situation it's about the breakdown of our services & communities nottinghampost.com/news/nottingha…
PSA: abled people DO NOT get to define disability, nor do they get to decide who is *genuinely disabled* or not. I don’t know what makes them think they can, unless they’ve decided they’re superior to disabled people and our lived experiences therefore don’t count.
Well done to Edinburgh and Belfast Police for refusing to arrest people holding up Palestine Action posters over the weekend and letting the protestors carry on peacefully. Hopefully their empathic actions will spread to other police forces.
Labour: Going after the disabled didn't work out as we planned, what can we do ? Also Labour: Let's got after the pension system and put the pension age up.
Stephen Timms clearly isn’t listening to disabled people and cannot seem to grasp exactly how hard life is for disabled people in this country. He talks about committing to co-production, yet disabled people have been left out of this from the start. There is a feeling from…
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1… Another day of the media increasing hatred towards disabled people by giving a faker narrative. How about we blame the ticket touts for booking up the platform, or the venue for not having enough space for disabled people.
Luke backed the welfare cuts bill. Luke is an utter wanker.
I used to receive disability benefits. My sister does. Why would I back cuts?
🚨 THE BIG LORDS REVIEW OF THE UNIVERSAL CREDIT BILL IS TODAY 🚨 Quite a few Peers have told us they’ve been inundated with our emails—in the best way. 🧡 Incredible work, everyone. Now we hope for long, powerful speeches—and that the motion of regret passes. 🤞 #TakingThePiP
LORDS REVIEW UC BILL ON TUESDAY Lords can't stop UC Bill BUT every speech in our support builds legal case and hopefully will encourage support for Baroness Bennett's fab 'motion to regret'. 📧 Please email the template or your version to speaking Lords: shorturl.at/VsJNE
I just want to remind people that Water is free, it drops out of the sky. Saying you should be paying as much for Water as you should for Energy, like Reform were claiming on the BBC today, is as ridiculous as saying a bicycle should be as expensive as a motorcycle.
Something needs to be done about the violent hate speech that disabled people are being subjected to everyday - especially online. I’ve seen a lot of hateful abuse recently that borders on the lines of Nazism. This is disturbing. This hatefulness against disabled people has no…
Labour now think only working people use water and have water bills. This 'working people' bolloxs has got to stop.
The one thing that’s making me madder than anything else around disabled people’s fight to stop welfare cuts is that it’s only us fighting. We see allies standing loudly for trans rights and Palestine (as they should) but where are they in our fight? Why don’t we matter as much?
A woman is arrested for a placard at the national march which says "I support Palestine. Action is needed now." In Leeds, the police said any message including the words "Palestine" and "Action", is illegal. Pretty hard to protest for Palestine without calling for action?
Looks like DWP held back figures until after ‘welfare reform’ bill re UC was pushed through parliament. So MPs voting didn’t have all info needed to make an informed decision. There’s only one way you can look at this. Government doesn’t care disabled people died/will die.
The number of internal reviews into deaths and other harm linked to universal credit nearly doubled last year, according to figures released just hours after ministers pushed through billions of pounds of cuts to part of the working-age benefits system. disabilitynewsservice.com/reviews-into-d…
oh this didn’t age well
Today marks the beginning of #DisabilityHistoryMonth. Labour will always treat disabled people with dignity and respect. We will break down barriers at work, tackle anti-disability hate crime and work with disabled people to develop policy rather than ignoring them.
What Kendall doesn’t state (behind a paywall Telegraph piece) is that most of disabled population are in fact pensioners. 45%. That the rise in State pension age for women increased disability benefits as confirmed by OBR which Kendall chose to ignore. Pension age increase? 👀 👇🏻
Cuts to sickness benefits. Cuts to housing support. Cuts to disability payments. But £26 billion a year for the banks? This isn’t economics. It’s a ruling class bailout.
