A neat parallel semantic development: (1) διατριβή, pastime, waste of time > discussion > study, teaching, lecture > school, a pejorative perhaps reclaimed by Socrates, and (2) σχολή, leisure > discussion > study, lecture > school, apparently secondary and preferred by Aristotle.
the Romanian word for "crap" 💩 also means "Turkish delight" and comes from the Arabic word for "comfort" let me explain:

أحملُ رغيفًا في الحلم، وفي الصحو... أحملهُ نعشًا صغيرًا.
"Grinding" in English implies working hard, but in Ancient Greek it had the connotation of wasting time on useless pursuits. It's also the origin of the word diatribe (a long-winded, usually political, speech which is a waste of time to listen to). Much to consider here...
in addition to 𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐜ă Romanian also has 1) 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐛ă from Slavic *treba - "necessity" 2) 𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐫𝐮 from Latin lucrum - "profit" not quite as grim
