Wholesome science linguistics and anthropology posting ~ ποταμῷ γὰρ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐμβῆναι δὶς τῷ αὐτῷ ~
I haven’t posted a grammar review thread for some time, but I found these 2 rare Caddo grammars made for a very interesting read. Here are some notes and excerpts of interest:

When you eat excess protein, a lot is converted back into glucose via gluconeogenesis, an energetically costly and inefficient process. You can avoid this by eating some carbs with your protein. This is really non-controversial, but gymbros have mindworms about this topic.
Protein is the only macronutrient you don’t want to prioritize (i.e. consume >50% in macros). Protein excess is undeniably bad for you. People who say they’re on “high-protein” diets are often on high-fat diets. It’s only “high-protein” relative to average consumption.

I heard a ghastly sounding woman in the airport say “ChatGPT— how much did I spend on this matcha??” into her phone about her drink
"Grinding" in English implies working hard, but in Ancient Greek it had the connotation of wasting time on useless pursuits. It's also the origin of the word diatribe (a long-winded, usually political, speech which is a waste of time to listen to). Much to consider here...

Skyr w/ fruit is very lindy & Peaty snaqq for Germanics -- "agrestia poma recens fera aut lac concretum"
This is Lindy btw. There are accounts of Germanic tribes who ate almost nothing except clotted milk mixed with cherry concentrate. Forgot what it was called “aschi” or “ashi” or something.
The Romanian word for Earth is literally "pavement." Very Eastern European-core, I like it

1. Nobody’s ever claimed this. 2. African comparative linguistics is a nightmare while Indo-European is tutorial-level tier (you can’t fail to notice Sanskrit Greek and Latin are related, and the rest follow naturally if you apply the rigorous deductive method of “having eyes”).
This isn’t to say sanskrit and Western European languages don’t have a common ancestor (they do) but their relations are overstudied relative to any other group - it makes no sense Africa has only 4 language groups for example

BREAKING: Pres. Trump says Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar in products sold in the U.S.
A linguistic mystery: The case of M-T and N-M pronouns Across a large region of Eurasia, unrelated languages exhibit a striking pattern: Their first-person pronouns begin with M, or a similar consonant, and their second-person pronouns begin with T, or a similar consonant.
In Ancient Greek, Melissa = bee = honey licker = pure being

Some bizarre things going on with Scandinavian settlement patterns in the US. I was unaware of the Utah Danish enclaves until recently. Also the mere concept of Finnish New Mexicans inspires abject terror, deeply cursed
My Danish ancestors were part of a mass migration to central Utah in the mid 1800s. Their town council meetings were held in Danish for years 4 generations later, I don’t speak a word of Danish and I’m not familiar with the customs. Assimilation is a slow process.
