1/ 11🧵 Covid is a vascular disease 🩸. We need to stop thinking of it primarily as a lung 🫁 disease. I hear lung Doctors says ‘we don’t see much on the chest X-rays in #longcovid’. The rheumatologists say ‘we don’t see raised inflammation on the blood tests in #LongCovid’
Neuroinflammation. Brains on fire. 🔥 I see the consequences of Covid-19 infection every day. How many studies do we need before we say it’s unethical to pretend Covid-19 is no longer an issue? Scans help us to ‘see’ the damage. In real life to ‘see’ this is heartbreaking.
A NEW research analyzed multimodal MRI scans of 76 COVID survivors versus 51 healthy controls. The study found focal atrophy in the right basal ganglia and limbic regions, and decreased white matter integrity in tracts like the uncinate fasciculus and cingulum that was more…
Thread on therapeutics for neuroinflammation in ME/CFS and long Covid Both existing&wish list. Kindly reordered from a messy reply into saveable slides. *always consult a doctor about medication ** I hope this helps someone. Thanks @RorPreston for the question.
In response to my question 'What do you see as the most promising medications for neuro-inflammation in ME'? @drclairetaylor wrote a brilliant thread Unfortunately the order was all scrambled, so with the help of ChatGPT have tried to put it in the correct order! 🧵1/n
This is pretty amazing. Rent out air purifiers for free in Edinburgh. For prevention of Covid-19 but also good for pollution too. What’s not to like 🤷🏻♀️ Great effort.
We believe clean air should be accessible to all & we’re so excited to support Air Library Scotland’s initiative to rent out air purifiers for free across Edinburgh. If you’re in Edinburgh, you can try one out for yourself. Request form: bit.ly/4nvFTsk
And not one word about Covid, repeated infections, Long Covid, all its multi system disabling effects in the debate about Welfare Bill! And consequently nothing about urgent need for major preventative measures in hospitals, schools and all workplaces. Complete incompetence.
A virus that appeared in 2020, that has not gone away and we refuse to collect data on. Long Covid is the main driver of the increase since 2020 and was expected. By 2023 2.5 million were ‘economically inactive’ due to long term sickness.
A lot of news from Covid inquiry blaming lockdown for people not being able to see relatives. The truth is; airborne transmission was covered up & Gov't hadn't properly prepared for an airborne pandemic. People could have done this entirely safely with the right mitigations. 1/2
Early this year my MP sent questions to DfE on air quality in schools and its effects on attendance. Q4 I asked if UKHSA guidance to schools should be updated in light of the high levels of illness in schools (during an ongoing pandemic) /1
