This is a dream come true, a once-in-a-lifetime honour. I am so utterly thrilled to have won the 2025 @WomensPrize for Non-Fiction. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who gave me such generous support in writing The Story of a Heart, especially Max & Keira’s incredible families 🩷🫁🫀

Appalled to see the Telegraph giving Aseem Malhotra a platform today. He has spread increasingly dangerous vaccine misinformation with impunity. @gmcuk’s failure to remove him from the register is every bit as appalling. A spineless dereliction of duty.

The @TheKingsFund review identified serious misconduct by senior people at the @RCPhysicians yet @OGMustafa refused to investigate individuals despite the mantra that the findings were “accepted in full” and that hundreds of fellows had also raised concerns So why was…
Good morning all. I hugely appreciate all the wonderful love- and seen the multiple tweets from seniors suggesting leaving the College @RCPhysicians I would suggest waiting to see if Council overturns this disproportionate decision made (in my opinion) or not. @PhilSmithIsBack…
The absolute burning shame of cone time. Poor Harley and her injured paw 😭😭😭

Physician Associates are being renamed to Physician Assistants because the public was confused about their role. But here’s what’s truly confusing: A physician assistant now starts on a salary that’s nearly £10,000 more than a fully qualified doctor. Read that again. Doctors…
Thank you @wesstreeting. There is much left unsaid in the Review, not least how, proactively, medical workforce planning now moves forward. But there are so many potentially routes to reforming this for the better. Doctor substitution was never the way. Not on on-call rotas, not…
Physician associates who assist doctors in GP surgeries and hospitals will now be known as assistants. Health Secretary Wes Streeting says this "better describes the role that they do". Read more ➡️ trib.al/aKsx2Nx
BBC giving false reassurance to patients. PAs don’t have to have a science degree/NHS work and currently they don’t have to be GMC registered. bbc.com/news/articles/…
We know that it was in fact @CMO_England who was in a passionate minority but those of us who had to call for the EGM to correct the policy of the RCP have had no apology, no thanks and no recognition for the major impact on patient safety this has achieved - despite the…
Whilst reading the Leng review & considering the @RCPhysicians response (irony itself) It’s worth remembering this exchange from the exPRCP & current CMO It seems the passionate minority whose rationality was “way down the list..beyond being swayed” - were actually correct?
Well said, @TYoungstein. Those of us with safety concerns around the role of PAs - now, finally, corroborated by Leng - were smeared as an irrational, toxic rabble. I think Chris Whitty owes doctors an apology. As do @RCPhysicians, @JimBethell et al.

Not self-defence. Not even collateral damage. Collective punishment. In other words, revenge… Astonished to find myself agreeing with Lord Sumption but every word of this, on Gaza, from the @NewStatesman’s front page, is powerfully, painfully true.

Shame on you @Telegraph for giving infamous UK anti-vaxxer Aseem Malhotra a platform on the very day we learn a child has died of measles.. You do understand, don’t you, that it’s exactly this kind of scaremongering that leaves parents so anxious & afraid? Shame on you.

How dare you call it a concentration camp! Just because it's a camp and we're concentrating people into it, doesn't mean it's a concentration camp.
Every savage word of this. You won’t consume anything more delicious today. Marina Hyde at her finest 🔥 “Televisually homeless” 😂 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
The proposed changes to Pharmacy in the 10YP have almost gone unnoticed (well, not on the MedTwitter). But I think these are MONUMENTAL. To the point of completely resetting who a pharmacist is and what they do. 1/
Appalled by @RCPhysicians secretive kangaroo court style censure of a Fellow & Councillor. Duty of candour, much?? Have they learned nothing from the Kings Fund review? Nor from the UK members they are haemorrhaging? Once I dreamed of being an RCP Fellow. Now that ‘honour’ would…
FINALLY- Decision @RCPhysicians investigation Removal from the Council of an elected member Barring standing for elections 12 months By a panel which is unknown - with zero right to reply. (To be ratified by Council on 15/7) For exposing chicanery around PAs by senior…
This threat would be less empty, @wesstreeting, if droves of doctors weren’t already leaving the UK in despair for Australia. Act punitively & more will leave - probably heartbroken while they do it. Lose lose for all concerned, but most of all patients.
In Commons, @wesstreeting tells MPs he can't promise strike action won't lead to job cuts, including doctors. "If this strike action goes ahead with all of the costs, pain & misery that follows, it won’t just be patients that suffer, or indeed this Govt. It will be the BMA too.”
