Freelance journo covering NHS in the southeast, patient safety & ambulances for HSJ. Not fond of authority whoever's in power. DMs open [email protected]
This is very worrying: a private amb crew covering an event having v basic training and apparently not recognising how seriously ill a young woman was. Did the event organisers realise what they were paying for? judiciary.uk/prevention-of-…
Interesting snippet around infection control

From probably one of the best-managed trusts I cover - so if they are struggling, the rest are likely to be even worse

Crumbs. One in four trusts with maternity units in England are now in NHS England's maternity support programme. One has been in it for seven years. WHat has gone wrong in maternity?
Row on the other place about what Aragorn's view of immigration would be. #justsaying
Shocking report which will only strengthen the case for Leeds being involved in the planned maternity inquiry.

Many more derogationz being given than in other resident doctors' strikes. This shouldn't be due to hospitals continuing with .more elective work - as NHSE has requested - so what is going on?
You okay hun?
That's very inspiring, Chris. What sort of champagne is your favourite? Are all doctors entitled to champagne? Are taxpayers's entitled to champagne, or is it just for doctors?

Hey resident doctors, remember this: You owe the NHS nothing You owe the public nothing You owe the Trusts nothing You worked hard to become highly qualified and skilled professionals, it was all you You are owed a fair wage and NOT a pay cut! Same for consultants Strike hard
The pay discrepancy between resident doctors and physician assistants really rankles and is part of the reason they are willing to strike.
If you were paid £9000 less than your assistant, you’d be on strike too. Doctors aren’t asking for our pay to be restored in one go. But even if it was, we would STILL start on less than our assistants do.
How's the strikes impacting on elective care? DMs open if anyone wants to tell me.
Wes Streeting has taken the unusual step of writing to resident doctors individually (through a letter sent on by NHS England) saying the current situation is a tragedy and saying he no longer believes their leaders engaged in "good faith."
And of course, male surgeons never work part time so they can do private work, do they?
Fewer women should become doctors as they ‘have got to have babies’, ex-surgeon says report from @ArchieMitch_ There are not enough words or eyeroll emojis for this 😡🙄 independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
Just had to verify my age for the other platform through a photo which will allow them to guesstimate it. Sadly, they didn't think I look under 18.
I think the phrase "We cannot move on pay" means there is no easy solution to the resident doctors' strikes. The other offers will be welcomed - and ought to happen anyhow - but only money in the pocket now is going to be acceptable. It doesn't have to be a lot but is necessary.
EXCL: Wes Streeting’s offer to the BMA in full - including cheaper lunches! This is what the doctors’ union rejected in favour of strikes: thesun.co.uk/news/politics/…
Statement from some of the Bereaved and Harmed Families in Leeds on the resignation of LTHT CEO. Chair of LTHT board has praised the CEO for his “outstanding leadership”; This is an insult to every wrongly bereaved/harmed family during his tenure as CMO and CEO. @wesstreeting
Why is the BBC running this hate-filled story? These people have less than £10 a week for essentials beyond food....if they choose to spend some in slot machines, it's a poor choice but hardly a threat to the public purse. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
