Few know this, but there are Baptists out there who are historically confessional and convictionally Baptist, and not just wishy washy generic evangelicals. There are Baptists beyond the fog machines and rock band. There is a real Baptist tradition out there, and it is good.
Just nine months ago, @ERLC staff promised that they would always ask these seven questions before taking actions. All seven of these questions counseled against signing this letter. But EIT called, and the letter was signed.
The @erlc letter to Congress says biblical convictions make the Dignity Act a "necessary reform." So, not only does the letter go beyond SBC resolutions, it suggests the bill is a necessary result of proper evangelical beliefs.

What constitutes sexual sin changes across the Bible as social convention changed & the folks responsible for composing the Bible negotiated between those conventions, their received tradition & their identity politics. This just shows it's about costly signaling & nothing more.
