Doctor: "Lots of my colleagues left for fairer pay in Australia. I can't blame them" Some people: "why don't you all to Australia then?" The same people: "I can't believe it took so long to see a doctor!"
Caught up with a friend who moved to Australia as a doctor. Their contracted hours are 7:30am–3:30pm, 5 days a week. Paid significantly more than what they earned in the NHS working 48+ hrs/week. Every single 10 mins after 3:30pm is logged and paid as overtime. Let that sink…
This, this is what a proper derogation should be about. Not granting it willy-nilly to trusts who haven’t made the effort to show their consultants how to use their own IT software.
We have agreed a derogation at St George's Hospital, London for 1 resident doctor anaesthetics registrar for a day shift on 28th July 2025. This will allow a specialist consultant neuroanaesthetist to cover for an urgent paediatric cancer case.
Public support is not required for strikes.

finally, the perfect time to use this meme
So, nothing really happened to those people who refused to take Covid-19 vaccine.
The derogation granted to Kings College Hospital for a Radiology SpR, has been revoked for both today and tomorrow. This is due to a false submission of accurate staffing levels. Either local management were unaware they had sufficient cover, or they deliberately misled us.
Removing a trade union representative from a locum group chat and then retrospectively deleting their messages is not a good look @Leic_hospital. Trade union representatives have protection against detriment under the TULRCA. I would advise you remind Mr Butt of that.
'They want to do damage to the Labour government.' @IainDale says there is a 'political element' to the doctors' strikes and it's 'disgraceful'.

No one tell WhatsApp Jim but today I’m on the shop floor drinking a Costa
That's very inspiring, Chris. What sort of champagne is your favourite? Are all doctors entitled to champagne? Are taxpayers's entitled to champagne, or is it just for doctors?
Doctors play a vital role at key moments in our lives. They care for us. They cure us. They do not take the decision to strike lightly. They are striking for an extra £4 per hour for first year doctors with £100,000 student debt. The government needs to move on this. Solidarity
Northern doctors sent a clear message today that no doctor is worth less than a doctor in 2008 The power to end these strikes lies squarely with @wesstreeting - he must make a meaningful offer to reverse our pay erosion and continue the journey to fair pay #DoctorsStrike
This unnecessary doctors’ strike will hurt patients, the NHS and doctors themselves. ✍🏻 @guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Lmao @Dr_Done_ in the replies
You have fully lost doctors at this point @wesstreeting Our assistants are paid £10K more than us - until that is not the case, your words mean nothing
Mike Graham grills BMA's resident doctors' committee co-chair Melissa Ryan on why she won't reveal her annual salary, despite going on strike over pay. "You're asking for taxpayers to fund your work... Of course your salary is bloody relevant - why are you hiding it?!" @iromg

Any Street Fighter fans in the Audience?
At first glance I very much thought this was a ‘dark’ Mickey Mouse game.

Coming from a gentleman that has used his immense privilege & Harrow Education to do nothing but “fluff A levels” and somehow find himself in a position to be investigated by Parliament Thank goodness we’ve abolished heredity peers Doctors aren’t the problem here

.@WesStreeting visited the @NHSEngland National Operations Centre this morning to thank staff across the country for everything they are doing to minimise disruption to patients from the BMA Resident Doctors' unnecessary strikes.
