Clean Up Gambling

Bringing about change to gambling regulation that puts consumer protection over industry profit
These guys thought they could hide behind the threat to racing to temper online gambling tax increases. But racing is now saying to govt leave us alone, tax the online casino more instead. The same gambling firms were fine to agree 50% tax on betting to get licensed in New York!
Racing is doing a great job at fighting the tax timebomb - but a hike to gaming duty will still damage the sport. Sebastian Butterworth of @FlutterEnt writes in @RacingPost ⬇️ racingpost.com/news/opinion/c…
Hi everyone! The latest @BeTheBestVY on @YouTube is out NOW! Today I was joined by the amazing @Jackie_olden1. We discussed our experiences of gambling harm and Jackie’s campaigning for safer gambling. You can watch it here… 👇🏻🔗 youtube.com/live/_VIBRypov…
We are celebrating our 4th year as a charity this month. We are incredibly proud of the work we have done and continue to do and none of this would be possible without our incredible team, partners, researchers and members. We are so grateful to everyone for the support!
This week, UK casinos are allowed to install 4x the number of the most addictive, high-jackpot "B1" slot machines. Official stats indicate more than half of those who play them suffer problem gambling. So why is @DCMS allowing thousands more into society? In today's @thetimes

The house always wins—unless we change the rules. 🎲 I’m backing a new Gambling Act to protect lives, not profits. First step Let’s end “aim to permit” #GamblingReform 🔗 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

"A new Gambling Act will be needed to meet our manifesto commitment to reducing gambling-related harm." Bring it on! theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Thrilled to have had this featured in the latest edition of @jacobin linkedin.com/posts/mzarb_th…
#Gambling, an industry out of control doing enormous damage to individuals and communities. It needs to be treated as the huge #PublicHealth issue it is theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
Over 40 councils and mayors - including @AndyBurnhamGM and @andrewpakes_' council in Peterborough - have now joined Brent's campaign calling for urgent gambling reform. 🎰Councils and communities need the powers to say no to new adult gaming centres taking over our high streets.
The rapid uncontrolled growth of adult gaming centres says a lot about the decline of our high streets. We need power to take back control and to update gambling rules. Glad to be working alongside great campaigners to fix this problem. 👉 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
This must be enough There are now 74,523 slot machines on UK high streets - an all-time high - sucking more money than ever from communities into the pockets of billionaires Councils must be given the power to refuse any more of these venues opening. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

The statutory levy is “just a drop in the ocean” says @AlexBallingerMP politicshome.com/news/article/l…

Great to hear @AndyBurnhamGM talk so passionately yesterday about the need for gambling reform. Extremely candid about the journey he’s been on since being in Westminster, now seeing first hand the devastating impact this industry can have on communities he’s trying to regenerate
Yesterday, the APPG heard from witnesses on the proliferation of B3 machines and Adult Gaming Centres. @DCMS must reform the regulations to prevent harm. Liberalisation of the 80/20 must be abandoned, and 'aim to permit' must be changed, empowering councils.
Charlie Brooks calls for doubling the tax on online casinos! A demand that is really gathering momentum 🐴
In a new pamphlet 'Where's the Harm?', @BeccyCooper4Lab calls on the government to approach gambling harms as a public health issue 🧵
If the government wants to raise money, it should tax gambling properly, recover millions lost to COVID fraud, and make sure the wealthiest pay their fair share.
It's time to take back control of our high streets. Join us - sign the petition 👇🏾 dawnbutler.org.uk/gambling_refor…
Why are there so many Adult Gaming Centres in deprived areas?
