It is a fascinating time in British politics however this is not unique in our history, in late 1981 disillusionment with the 2 major parties meant the emerging SDP-Liberal Alliance reached 50% on the polls…
🚨 Reform now polling at 34%, more than double the Tories and 14 pts clear of Labour! Extraordinary. This would give @Nigel_Farage a walloping majority, north of 400 MPs There is hope for Britain! 🇬🇧
Good article. I juggled this for 12 years, at a Unitary Council, stopping due to various factors including the Council reducing the number of Councillors, increasing our workload, as did the rise of social media and it simply became untenable to balance with FT job & family.
Juggling family life, a full-time job and the responsibilities of a local councillor can be a difficult task. That's why I'm pleased to back @lgcplus's campaign to encourage more people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in local government.
As a disabled parliamentary candidate in last year’s General Election, I did receive good support from CCHQ however it could be improved on, with greater interaction with both @The_C_D_G and @Ability_2_Win.
Our Chair @jwindsorclive caught up with Alison Griffiths, MP for Littlehampton and Bognor Regis, before recess. Topics discussed included: 🏅 Incorporating a disability first mindset in CCHQ. 🏛️ How the CDG can help best influence disability policy within the Party. 📚…
Two observations. 1. Those who attacked this young Christian would never have done the same to a Muslim street preacher. 2. They almost certainly consider themselves part of the 'Be Kind' brigade.
Young Christian attacked in Camden for debating Christian values with members of the public. How are these extremists allowed to assault Christians with impunity? @YoungBobTPUK

As an ambulant wheelchair user, I can stand and walk short distances but I need the wheelchair to travel & rest. If however you can stand and dance for 2 hours straight at a rock concert, do you really need to take up a place for someone who simply doesn’t have that option?

20 years later and now the UK has over 2,600 Changing Places toilets available to support more than 250,000 people, offering dignity and independence. We’re proud to be a committed member of the Changing Places Consortium, championing greater access to these essential spaces.
Today marks a significant milestone in the fight for Changing Places toilets - Changing Places Toilet Awareness Day, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Changing Places toilet campaign. Read more: buff.ly/h06MHPq #CPTAD2025 #ChangingPlacesToilets
You are simply wrong. House prices are the most unaffordable since Queen Victoria was on the throne.
Potential root cause: Boomers built wealth by living within their means, no easy credit, no £5 coffees. Today’s generation spending beyond means, faces debt, envy, and overspending fuelled by frictionless finance and social media. That's we have HENRYs.

I gave a speech today in an empty chamber. It’s about the need for a Christian restoration.
Nuclear is better for nature. It uses 3,000x less land than onshore wind, operates 24/7, and produces zero emissions while protecting our countryside. But piles of red tape stand in the way. So, we're using amendments in Parliament to force Labour to get Britain building.
The police now won’t prosecute this case, even though Palestine Action claimed responsibility, and even though the vandal filmed herself committing the crime. Britain used to be a uniquely orderly place, but this constant asymmetry in policing is destroying our social fabric.
Probably one of the most prophetic paragraphs of the twentieth century - from Neil Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death (1985)
Rising yields, falling hunger— The Agricultural Revolution — the transition from hunting and gathering to farming — didn’t end hunger. That’s because more food didn’t mean more per person: it meant more people. The English cleric Thomas Malthus predicted this would continue…
Apologies, late to this, what’s the current situation…

Play up and play the game. You’re denying the fans the opportunity of watching good cricket and the players from playing under pressure. Gamesmanship is not something to proud of. Spirit of the game is.
Always annoying when you can't get another over in before close 🙄
Popped in early to see the Artisan Market today in Northwich, which started way back in 2012 and continues to give the town centre a monthly boost. @_TheMarketCo #Northwich @NorthwichBID

Many of the UK's problems are down to an inability to say 'no', and 'I don't care what you think'. When we rediscover these powerful tools, things will start to improve
