Outside of Superman saving a soldier who just shot at him, there is nothing in this sequence that the baseball stadium sequence doesnt also achieve.

The story isn't that complicated, we just don't have answers to a lot of stuff. Everything that's been explained is actually pretty easy to parse and people play up its complexity for dramatic/comedic effect.

One thing I appreciate about Superman is how it really embraces the fact that the DC universe has always been a highly fictionalised version of Earth, rather than trying to ground it in our reality. I got such a kick out of all the little background details.
