@bjgingerich
Rector at St. Jude's Anglican Church (Richmond, VA), Proud Son of Alleghany County, VA. @the_maggieg is my helpmeet. I write things at @WNGdotorg Opinions.
I appreciated this latest piece by Steven Wedgeworth+ wng.org/opinions/fello…
We could power half the globe if we just found a way to harness the energy being put off from Boethius' bones turning in his grave.
Don't get your theology from William Lane Craig.
I have a slightly cattivo suggestion. Graduates of classical schools should reintroduce the old practice of apposite quotation in Latin and Greek when in the company of graduates of elite but non-classical schools. This should be done without showiness but with the air of someone…
Good article, but a minor correction: Hosam Naoum is not a member of the GSFA. He serves on the Anglican Consultative Council and has close ties to Canterbury. Rev. Wedgeworth might have him mixed up with Mouneer Anis.
I learned last night that Jane Greer has gone to her eternal reward. I enjoyed her poetry as well as our interactions on this site. In honor of Jane, here's one of my favorites:
For St. Stephen’s Day, here’s my poem about St. Paul.
All right, hivemind: what are your favorite commentaries on St. Paul's epistle to the Romans?
Hey, REC folks! In 2023 at the Charleston General Council, a lot of you wondered why's he fighting so hard against these trial rules from ACNA - are they really that bad? In light of the recent ACNA fiasco, I hope you understand why I went to the mat: they're that bad.

Provocative, but I think this might be right.
Thesis: southern Evangelicals imported their intellectual/class from New England, not because their weren't southern intellectuals, but because those southern intellectuals were British-trained Anglicans who werent "republican" enough, or Francophile liberals like Jefferson.
Bishop Peter Manto joins us to welcome new parishioners, preach, and lead us in worship. Service begins at 9:30 AM Eastern. youtube.com/live/7n3gT6rld…
Coming out of Superman, @zugzwanged says brightly “I really like how they leant into the fantastical elements, for example, the journalists being good guys.”
NYT: "By creating incentives for professors & students to have and maintain certain political positions, such a policy would discourage curiosity & reward narrowness of thought." 🤣🤣🤣 Who wants to tell Prof. Morton?
I was thinking about the fact that Welby resigned nearly 6 months ago and no one has replaced him. If no one wants to lead an organization, it is likely that there is nothing to lead any more.
If people knew that overstating their case made others less likely to listen to them, then Christian discourse/disputes would be so much better. “Luther started modernism!” “Anglicanism was only started because Henry VIII was an adulterer!” “Roman Catholics worship the devil!”…
Had a great time with @bjgingerich and @GodRemembrancer on Faith & Honor discussing how William Whitaker frames the perspicuity of Scripture in light of Christ's joint imperative-indicative statement in John 5:39, and how that should shape our epistemology.
A computer that allows you to play Age of Empires II is never obsolete

“Why do Evangelicals go to Rome the minute they read Pieper etc?” [reads a David Platt book] “Oh ok.”
We hosted Evensong at our house Sunday evening. A great turnout and time of fellowship and special shout out to my wife who played piano for our hymns.
(2) I find that the most disarming response is to ask the clarifying question, “I just want to make sure I understand your point: you’re saying that poor and uneducated people can’t enjoy choral music or beautiful worship because they’re poor and uneducated, correct?”
(1) I’ve crossed swords only a few times with critics of parishes that serve poor neighbourhoods but employ the BCP, high liturgy, or have a high choral tradition - their arguments are always about it being too fancy/irrelevant/beyond the neighbouring folks’ ability to enjoy, etc
It is wrong to assume that working-class people struggle with traditional language, says Jayne Manfredi churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…
